We are heartbroken by the loss of our colleague and friend, Representative Liz Conmy. She brought not only dedication and integrity to her work, but also a warmth and sincerity that made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of serving with her.

Liz had a rare ability to look beyond party lines and focus on people—listening first, working collaboratively, and always striving to do what was right for her community.

She will be remembered not just for her service, but for her kindness, her thoughtfulness, and the genuine care she showed to others every day. She will be deeply missed by all of us.

Conmy and one other passenger died shortly after takeoff near Crystal Airport Saturday, April 25.

North Dakota legislative leaders highlight relief package eliminating property tax bill for 50,000 households:

“The legislature worked hard to provide true property tax reform through the 3% cap and a $1,600 property tax credit on primary residences in the state. This was done using Legacy Fund earnings, which will provide this relief for future generations.”—House Majority Leader Mike Lefor

Approximately 50,000 North Dakota households will pay no property tax in 2025 as a result of the expanded Primary Residence Tax Credit. The credit was first created in 2023 with a maximum credit of $500 and House Bill 1176 later increased the amount to $1,600 for 2025 while implementing a 3% cap on annual levy growth.

This level of relief fully covers property taxes for many homes valued at $150,000 or less. More than 145,200 residents applied for the credit resulting in a 95% participation rate for eligible homes.

Roughly 50,000 households will pay no property tax in 2025 because of the relief and reform bill passed during the 2025 legislative session, a state official said Wednesday.

We are outraged and saddened by the senseless attacks that took place in Minnesota over the weekend and the loss of House Speaker Emeritas Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and the wounding of Senator John and Yvette Hoffman. We ask all North Dakotans to lift up the victims and their families in prayer. May God bring them comfort and strength.

We are saddened to learn that Representative Jim Kasper has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke. Representative Kasper is a respected colleague, a dedicated public servant, and a dear friend to many of us in the legislature. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with Representative Kasper and his family. We are hopeful for a speedy recovery and stand ready to support him however we can in the days ahead.
