Honored to moderate a panel on Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age as part of the first workshop of Western Governors' Association Chair Governor Josh Green Health Beyond Healthcare initiative.

We had an important conversation about how smartphones, social media, and AI are reshaping how young people learn, connect, and experience the world, while also introducing new risks to their mental health and well-being. We explored the effects of these technologies on youth and discussed policy opportunities and evidence-based approaches to support young people in our rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Thank you to the panelists, Ellen Selkie, Harveer Saini, and Karen Gentile, for sharing their expertise and perspectives on this important issue.

Today, I had the opportunity to moderate “Finding Balance: Kids, Screens, and the Future of Technology” with Dr. Siobahn Day Grady and Dr. Marcus Lewton.

We had a thoughtful conversation about the impact of screens, social media, and AI on our children - and how we can embrace the benefits of technology while helping kids thrive, learn, and stay connected in healthy ways.

Thank you to The Hunt Institute for putting on this retreat, and to the legislators, educators, and leaders who joined us. I’m grateful to work alongside so many people committed to helping our kids thrive and prepare for the future.

Thank you to the North Dakota Council on the Arts for hosting a reception celebrating UND's Constitution Day Project on the 18th floor of the State Capitol.

I’m grateful to University of North Dakota President Andrew Armacost, project director Dr. Joonghwa Lee, Dean Soojung Kim, and the new Americans featured in the project for making the trip to Bismarck. Most importantly, thank you to the student contributors whose work brought these powerful portrait photographs and video stories of new Americans across North Dakota to life.

It was an honor to celebrate this meaningful project. When we learn about one another’s challenges, cultures, and experiences, we become more connected as a community.
