🔔 Marathon County Land Notification Services
I was asked to share information about a free service available through Marathon County that may help protect property owners from potential deed fraud or home title theft.
This type of fraud occurs when someone uses forged documents and stolen personal information to transfer ownership of a property without the owner's knowledge.
Marathon County's Land Notification Services allows residents to monitor a name and/or parcel number and receive alerts whenever documents are recorded that match the criteria they have established.
To learn more or sign up, visit:
https://rod.co.marathon.wi.us/LandNotification/ #/

🌬️ Public Input Opportunity – Proposed Hub City Wind Farm
Marathon County is currently seeking public input regarding the proposed Hub City Wind Farm Project by Alliant Energy.
While the proposed project is located in the southwestern portion of Marathon County and does not immediately affect our area, residents may wish to learn more or participate in the public survey.
Additional information is available at:

Good morning,

Hope you are all enjoying the milder spring weather!

There is a lot going on this month, and the following is some important information that you will want to read about (Elections, Open Book/Board of Review, Town Elector’s Meeting, Town Board Meeting, Garbage & Recycling, etc).

Spring Election – April 7th
There are State, County, and School Board races on the April 7th ballot. If you would like to see what is on the ballot, visit: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/.

The Spring Election will be held at the Town Hall (180771 County Road Z), from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Photo I.D.’s are required in order to vote on Election day.

If you need to get registered on Election day, you will need to bring along something that proves your address. If your current driver’s license has your current address, then that is all you need to bring in.

Wisconsin does have a 28-day residency requirement. If you have resided in our Town for less than 28 days, then you will need to vote at your previous municipality.

Open Book with Town Assessor and Board of Review Meetings
• Open Book - April 21st, from 12:00pm – 2:30pm, at the Town Hall
Town of Plover Assessment Rolls will be open for examination, and you can review and discuss your property’s assessed value with our Town Assessor, Todd Anderson. If you have an issue with your assessment, it is important to be proactive and talk to him. You can contact him in advance at 715-845-2022 or [email protected].

I would encourage you to check out the 2026 Guide for Property Owners: https://www.revenue.wi.gov/dor%20publications/pb060.pdf

• Board of Review – April 28th, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm, at the Town Hall
The Town Board of Review is where any filed objection notices are reviewed and acted upon. If you intend to file an objection to your assessed value, you are required to notify me 48 hours prior to the Board of Review meeting (by Sunday, April 26th, 6:30pm).

The Objection Form that must be completed by the objecting property owner can be found: https://www.revenue.wi.gov/dorforms/pa-115af.pdf

April 21st, at 6:00pm - Annual Town of Plover Meeting of Town Electors
Wisconsin requires all Town’s to annually hold a meeting of the Town Electors.

The primary, and required, order of business is for the Town Board to present the Town’s 2025 Statement of Financial Condition (per Wis. Stat. s 60.41). The Statement will include the previous year’s revenues and expenditures, along with the current indebtedness of the Town. This is also the opportunity for any Town electors to exercise their unique powers, as provided in Wis. Stat. s 60.11 (https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/60/iii/11).

During the annual meeting, the Town Chairman typically chairs the meeting and the Town Clerk takes the minutes. Action is taken by any of the qualified Town Electors. To be a qualified Town Elector, you must be at least 18 years old, have permanent residency in the Town, and cannot be a felon. For a list/explanation on what the Town Electros can bring up and take action on, visit (Wis. Stat. s 60.10(1)): https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/60/iii/10/1.

April 21st, Immediately following the Annual Town of Plover Meeting of Town Electors: Town Board Monthly Meeting
Typically, the monthly Town Board meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. However, during the month of April, we typically move the monthly Town Board meeting to follow the Annual Electors Meeting.

The meeting agenda will be posted on the Town’s social media sites and three bulletin boards by Sunday, April 19th.

We encourage residents to attend Town meetings to learn what is going on, and plus you have an opportunity to ask questions, during the meeting.

If you are unable to attend meetings, the previous meeting minutes can be found posted at the Town Hall and on the Town’s website (https://townofplover.us/town-board-meetings).

Garbage and Recycling
There should not be any special collection situations occurring this month.

If you get missed, or need to make other special arrangements, you will need to do this directly through Harter’s, by calling (715) 446-5400 or emailing [email protected].

Our garbage & recycling schedule for this month is as follows (on Thursdays):

Thursday, April 2nd
Thursday, April 9th
Thursday, April 16th
Thursday, April 23rd
Thursday, April 30th

Special note about your Harter’s garbage and recycling carts: If your carts are damaged due to normal wear and tear, Harter’s will replace them at no cost. If your carts are damaged for any other reason and/or if they go missing, you will be responsible for the replacement cost of the cart(s). It appears their replacement cost is $120.00 per cart.

As always, please be sure to have your carts out the night before, or no later than 5:00am, on the service day, to guarantee collection.

The Town’s “Annual” Spring Clean-Up is coming up on Thursday, May 14th. Please mark this on your calendars, as it is a great way to get rid of your unwanted large materials (and to be picked up “roadside”).

Don’t forget to check out the Town’s website: https://townofplover.us/.

Stay dry and have a wonderful Easter weekend!

**Asking for Help in Compiling a List of People Who Can Assist with Private Property Snowplowing**

Good morning, Town of Plover residents,

I have had a couple of people contact me to see if the Town would plow their driveways, as they were unable to.

Due to liability issues, the Town is unable to provide this service.

**I thought what I could do is ask you all to please let me know if you offer snowplowing services or if you have someone you can recommend. This way, I can compile a list and send it out to everyone.**

I look forward to your soonest responses so that we can find some assistance.

Sincerely,

Valerie Parker, Clerk

Good afternoon,

Hope you are all enjoying the milder spring weather!

Below is some important information regarding things occurring this month in our Town.

Spring Election – April 7th
There will be Federal, State, County, and School Board races on the April 7th ballot. Sounds like, by the end of this week, the County will have the ballots ready for Clerks to pick up. Once I pick mine up, I will scan in a copy of the ballots and have them posted on our website. We have two ballot styles:
*One for the part of the Town within the Antigo School District, and
*One for the part of the Town within the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District.

On Tuesday, March 17th, I will mail out ballots to anyone who has sent in an absentee ballot request.

March 24th starts the period where people can do in-person absentee ballots.

There will be a County-wide public test of the election equipment held on Monday, March 30th, at the Town Hall, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The general public is welcome to come and observe the testing of the equipment.

The April 7th Spring Election will be held at the Town Hall (180771 County Road Z), from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. If you are unsure as to which school district jurisdictions you reside in, please reach out to me.

Not registered and want to participate in the elections, you can do so from the convenience of your home at: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/, or you can get registered to vote, in person at the Town Hall, during any of the election days.

Annual Dog License Payments – Due April 1st
Annual dog license payments are due to Town Treasurer, Connie Sippl, by April 1st.

Spayed/Neutered $12.00
Non-Spayed/Non-Neutered $20.00

You would need to mail your check + rabies vaccination document to:

Town of Plover
236281 North Pole Road
Birnamwood, WI 54414

If your dog ever gets lost, and has its rabies tag attached to its collar, we can more easily locate the owners of the dog. Plus, if your dog ever bites someone, having proof of vaccination will prevent your dog from being quarantined and the injured person from going through a series of shots and medical treatments.

March 10th Town of Plover Monthly Board Meeting, Beginning at 6:00pm
The meeting agenda will be posted on the Town’s social media sites and three bulletin boards by tomorrow, Sunday, March 8th.

If you still have your old Waste Management carts, the following are your options for those:

*If you want those old Waste Management gone, you now will need to figure out a way to get those old carts delivered to Waste Management, in Weston (5509 Fuller Street), or you can call them at (715) 241-4073 to see if they would be willing to come out and pick them up.

*If you have a use for those carts, perhaps to store yard stuff in, feel free to keep the carts, as Waste Management is not keeping track of them.

Please know that Harter’s will only empty carts with the Harter’s name on them.

Our garbage & recycling schedule for this month is as follows (on Thursdays):

Thursday, March 5th
Thursday, March 12th
Thursday, March 19th
Thursday, March 26th

As always, please be sure to have your carts out the night, or no later than 5:00am, on the service day, to guarantee collection.

The Antigo School Board race will literally be the only thing on this ballot, which means only Town of Plover residents, who reside within the Antigo School District jurisdiction will be eligible to vote on February 17th. The primary border line between the Antigo School District and Wittenberg School District is County Road Z (most properties north of County Road Z are in the Antigo School District).
