The verdict is out, and I agree! Biddeford has three incredible coffee shops in our downtown.

Well-deserved recognition for Elements: Books Coffee Beer, Catface Cafè, and Time & Tide Coffee. Credit to the teams and proprietors behind each of these spots. There is real care in what they do.

If you did not get a chance to try them during Restaurant Week, make a plan to visit all three this spring.

Very proud of the talent and skill within our Public Works and Recreation staff that made this possible.

This recognition is well earned and reflects the care, craftsmanship, and collaboration behind a new Bath House that Biddeford residents will use for generations to come to enjoy our public beaches.

Big congratulations to the Biddeford Public Works Department on being named the 2026 Facility of Merit Award recipient by the Maine Recreation and Park Association! 🏆

This well-deserved recognition highlights the incredible work on the Gilbert Boucher Pool Beach Bathhouse—a project that showcases thoughtful design, community need, accessibility, and expanded recreational opportunities for our residents.

We’re proud that the Biddeford Recreation Department had the opportunity to nominate Public Works for this award. This project is a true example of collaboration and commitment to enhancing our community spaces.

Congratulations to the New England Champion Biddeford Recreation Girls Travel Basketball Team (Grades 3–4)!

CONGRATULATIONS TIGERS!!!

The Biddeford Travel Recreation 3rd & 4th Grade Girls Basketball Team went undefeated in the regular season, capturing the Town Team Championship and earning a trip to the New England State Championships in Tiverton, RI.

While in Rhode Island, the girls faced strong out-of-state competition but battled hard and continued their undefeated run! In an exciting 25–22 nail-biter against St. Theresa, the Tigers came away with the win to claim the Golden Ball!

Congratulations, girls! Your hard work, teamwork, and determination made our community proud!

Today marks 100 days since taking office as Mayor of Biddeford.

I’m grateful for the many conversations I’ve had with residents during the Mayor's monthly open-door sessions, community meetings, and one-on-one conversations across our city. Your voices help guide the work ahead.

I also want to extend my gratitude to the City Council, School Committee, city committee members, city staff, and the many community members who give their time and energy to serve Biddeford. Your commitment is what keeps our city moving forward.

These first few months have also made clear where our strengths lie and where we still have gaps to address. As mayor, I want to be transparent about where the City stands, where we need to go, and the resources required to get us there.

Next week, I will share a full 100-Day Update reflecting on what we’ve accomplished, the challenges we continue to address, and the path forward for Biddeford.

As your mayor, I intend to work every day to ensure this office is grounded in accountability, transparency, and a genuine commitment to the public good.

Last weekend, I was honored to attend the 6th Annual Black Balloon Day gathering in Biddeford, where more than 1,000 people came together to remember those we have lost to substance use, support those in recovery, and stand with the families whose lives have been affected.

During the event, I had the privilege of reading a mayoral proclamation recognizing Black Balloon Day in Biddeford. This day serves as an important moment of remembrance, reflection, and renewed commitment to supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder.

Thank you to Pyan Raige, Cynthia Langlais Paige, Randy Beard, and the entire team at the AccessDirect Recovery Network for organizing this meaningful gathering, to New Life Church for graciously hosting, and to the many volunteers who helped make the day possible.

Grateful to everyone who stopped by the third Mayor’s Open Door last Saturday at McArthur Public Library. Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas, concerns, and vision for Biddeford. These conversations are always thoughtful, constructive, and grounded in a genuine desire to see our city thrive.

A few themes that emerged:

• Appreciation for the outreach surrounding the Recreation Bond and the effort to keep residents informed and engaged.
• A strong desire to make downtown more accessible and welcoming for residents to visit and spend time.
• Interest in adding more trash cans downtown to help keep our shared spaces clean and inviting.
• Concerns about traffic light timing and flow in the Main / Hill / Water Street area.
• Clarification on when to reach out to a state agency versus the City, depending on jurisdiction and oversight.
• Questions about the City’s financial outlook, including the status of our audits and bond obligations.

Mayor’s Open Door is held on the 4th Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McArthur Library. No appointment needed; just stop by.

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the women who shaped our nation and helped build Biddeford.

Among the many chapters of women’s history in Biddeford, the rise of the textile mills stands out as one transformative era. By the 1840s, women were a visible and at times dominant force in the workforce. The women who powered Biddeford's looms, known as the “Mill Girls”, did more than sustain an industry; their labor, resilience, and determination strengthened the economic and civic foundation of our city.

Their move from farm to factory brought new independence and visibility during a dynamic era. The pathways they carved, often quietly and without recognition, helped expand opportunity for future generations.

This month, we honor the women who built Biddeford and the women who continue to lead, serve, and strengthen our city today.
