Over the past four years, people find me to be an experienced leader, a consensus-builder, a citizen’s advocate, a forward-thinker, and inclusive and enthusiastic. Below are some endorsements attesting to this as well as information on how to support my campaign.
An Experienced Leader — For the past four years, I have reviewed and modified city budgets, carefully judged hearings, served on city committees, worked with our directors, and written and passed thoughtful legislation. As a biology professor at The Ohio State University, I have a passion for learning and teaching that enhances my skills and experience as a city council member.
“His analytical approach to understanding the budgetary process is a skill which has been beneficial to improving city services.” - Lee Nathans, Bexley Citizens Police Academy Director and Bexley 2018 Citizen of the Year
A Consensus Builder – At all times, I strive to add value to the conversation, ask thoughtful questions, and I ensure that I am courteous to everyone with whom I interact. I use my skills as a consensus builder to get things accomplished on behalf of the city. This includes listening to my fellow council members and the citizens of this city to help shape my decisions.
“Troy has shown strong leadership and outstanding collaboration, and it would be a very good thing for Bexley to see him re-elected for a second term.” - Steve Keyes, City Council Member 2012-2019
A Citizens’ Advocate – I am accessible and responsive to every citizen—whether I am contacted in person, via email, or during a Council meeting. I listen to each and every citizen. Their concerns are useful in helping me determine what is best for our city.
“Troy. . .allows you to feel comfortable expressing yourself and the needs/concerns you have for the City, knowing he will take it seriously and respect your opinions.” - Lindsay Hodge, Chair, Bexley Recreation Board
A Forward-Thinker – I believe in the future of our city and in my role in helping to shape that. Part of that comes through strong fiscal decisions that ensure our budget is balanced and devoid of extraneous expenditures. That our rainy-day fund is maintained, and that we support smart investments that will benefit our city for years to come. Other decisions include road improvements, partnerships with other cities, and even green legislation.
“His leadership and engagement continue to move Bexley forward. His vision to build upon Bexley’s progressive environmental focus benefits everyone who lives, works, and plays here. I highly recommend him for another term on City Council!” - Elaine Phillips Pelz Executive Director, Bexley Area Chamber of Commerce
An Inclusive and Enthusiastic Neighbor – Over the nearly 25 years I have called Bexley home, I have lived in five different areas of our city. I’ve made countless friends, and had a lot of neighbors. My wife, Patti Robins Markham (’87) and her father Ron Robins (’58) grew up in here and graduated from Bexley High School. My daughter is a graduate of Bexley High School and my son is a student and plays on the baseball team. My family is a part of the fabric of this community—and we love it. I am honored to serve and represent the people of this community, and I take that duty very seriously.
“His work on the city council has fostered a community that is accepting and inclusive of all individuals to create the home that we all can enjoy regardless of where we came from. His re-election to the city council means we have someone in our corner working to create an inclusive and safe community.” - Tess Stuber, 2018 Bexley High School graduate and activist
