Bethlehem Township Police Department held its Memorial Service and Award Ceremony last week on Police Memorial Day - May 15, 2026.

The ceremony started with a pause to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our communities. Behind the badge of every fallen officer is a story of service, a dedicated officer, and a family who shares in that ultimate sacrifice. Their bravery reminds us of the true meaning of duty—service above self.

We also gathered to honor and celebrate the professionalism, commitment and dedication of the officers of the Bethlehem Township Police Department and our fellow First Responders.

Every day, police officers and first responders are asked to respond to our community’s most difficult moments. And every day, without hesitation, they answer that call.

The honored recipients didn’t just meet the expectations of their duty—they exceeded them. They have shown us that even in the face of complex challenges, our officers and fellow first responders remain dedicated to serving and protecting our community.

The honored recipients represent the highest standards of our profession, and we are proud to have them on our team. We are truly grateful for their commitment to making our community safer.

To the recipients: Congratulations on the well-deserved honors.

National Police Week May 10 - 16, 2026 💙🖤💙
PEACE OFFICER MEMORIAL DAY - May 15th 🇺🇸

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

National Law Enforcement Memorial – Washington D.C. - Tens of thousands of law enforcement officers and the families & loved ones of fallen officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned memorial week events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

This year the names of 363 fallen officers will be carved onto the blue-gray walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial monument. Included in this list will be the names of 109 officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2025. The historical names of 254 officers who were killed in prior years, but who’s names had been forgotten by time, are being added to the memorial. The Memorial Fund’s staff and a team of dedicated volunteers research and confirm records of their law enforcement service and sacrifice.

With the addition of these 363 names, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial will bear the names of 24,775 officers representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, federal law enforcement, and military police agencies—all who have made the ultimate sacrifice throughout our nation’s history.
