Today, March 11 is the first day Independent and Third-Party candidates in Pennsylvania can begin circulating nomination papers to get on the November ballot. Meanwhile, the major party candidates just wrapped up their petitioning period yesterday to qualify for the taxpayer-funded primary election.
That means Democrats and Republicans not only get an earlier start, they also receive millions of dollars worth of exposure through a publicly funded primary system.
Independent and citizen candidates don’t get that privilege.
We earn our place on the ballot the hard way, a lot more signatures, more work, no primary exposure. We earn it directly from the people.
Over the next several months, volunteers and candidates across Pennsylvania will be talking with voters, collecting signatures, and building something the establishment parties can’t manufacture:
A real grassroots movement.
If you believe our elections should be open to more voices, more ideas, and more citizen candidates, now is the time to get involved.
Sign a nomination paper.
Circulate for a candidate.
Run for office.
The future of Pennsylvania won’t be built by political insiders, it will be built by We The People.
