Cancer Survivor Month
June is Cancer Survivor Month, a time to reflect on how cancer has touched so many in our community, our friends, neighbors, and families who continue to face challenges with remarkable strength.
To those who are currently fighting, please know you are not alone. To those who have survived, your resilience is an inspiration.
To those who carry the loss of someone they love, our community stands with you.
This month is a reminder to support one another, to prioritize our health, and to never underestimate the power of compassion and connection. It is also a time to recognize the importance of early detection and access to care.
Together, we will continue to lift each other up and hold on to hope.

If you or someone you love is affected by cancer, support is available:

American Cancer Society: 1‑800‑227‑2345
National Cancer Institute: 1‑800‑4‑CANCER
Cancer Support Community: 888‑793‑9355

These organizations offer free support, information, counseling, and help connecting to local resources.

You are not alone! 💚

Thank you for all you do, today and EVERY Day!

National Police Week, observed each year during the week of May 15, is a time to recognize and commemorate the law enforcement officers who keep our communities safe, especially those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

We are grateful for the bravery, sacrifices, and service of the men and women of the Berkley Department of Public Safety. Thank you for your dedication to our community!

Honoring the Heart of Our Community

This week, we celebrate both Nurses Week and Teachers Week, two professions that have shaped my life.

As a nurse, I’ve held hands through fear, uncertainty, and healing.
As a teacher, I’ve watched students discover confidence they didn’t know they had.
And in both roles, I’ve learned that people flourish when someone believes in them.

To my fellow nurses (and nursing students) and educators: your work is often unseen, but never unfelt. You carry the weight of other people’s lives, hopes, and futures and you do it with grace.

Thank you for everything you give to our community. Berkley is stronger, kinder, and more resilient because of you.

Thank you for all you do!

The Berkley Public Library Seed Library hosted their third packing party, which follows two previous successful events that yielded over 5100 packets. Gratitude is extended to the Library and volunteers for their collaborative efforts. This has to mean spring and summer weather is coming, right??

What a busy day in Berkley.
Two new trees were planted at Berkley Public Library thanks to the City of Berkley, MI Tree Board and DPW, followed by a ribbon cutting at Heavenly Pound Cake to welcome a great new local business.
Make sure to check out both!
