Marlboro County EMS would like to extend our sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Cape Fear Valley Mobile Integrated Healthcare and the Bennettsville Fire Department for their assistance with a specialty patient transport today.

Cape Fear Valley graciously loaned MCEMS their bariatric ambulance, cot, and staff to operate the truck, which allowed us to safely transport a patient to the emergency department. We would also like to thank the members of Bennettsville Fire Department for their support and assistance during this transport.

This is a great example of neighboring agencies working together to ensure patients receive the care they need while maintaining the safety of both the patient and responding personnel. We are grateful for the strong partnerships we share and appreciate the willingness of these organizations to assist when called upon.

Thank you for your support, teamwork, and commitment to serving our communities. 🚑🚒

This week is EMS Week and what better way to support Marlboro County EMS than by donating blood. MCEMS is proud to be one of only a handful of EMS agencies in South Carolina carrying and administering whole blood in the prehospital setting to patients who meet the criteria.

Whole blood is considered the gold standard in blood administration for patients suffering from severe blood loss and traumatic injuries. Early blood administration in the field can make the difference between life and death before a patient ever reaches the hospital.

Next week, we will be partnering for a community blood drive and we encourage everyone who is able to donate to consider giving. Your donation could directly help save someone’s life, maybe even a friend, neighbor, or family member.

During EMS Week, help us continue bringing advanced lifesaving care to the citizens of Marlboro County by supporting the upcoming blood drive.

Every drop matters. Every donor matters.

As we begin EMS Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the men and women of Marlboro County EMS who answer the call every single day, regardless of the circumstances.

EMS is not an easy profession. It demands long hours, missed holidays, sleepless nights, difficult decisions, and the ability to remain calm during some of the worst moments in another person’s life. Our crews routinely walk into chaotic, emotionally charged, and unpredictable situations while carrying the responsibility of caring for complete strangers at their most vulnerable.

What the public often does not see are the sacrifices made behind the scenes. The training. The continuing education. The emotional toll of traumatic calls. The time away from families. The pressure of making split-second decisions in environments where there is rarely perfect information and where outcomes are sometimes judged later from the comfort of an armchair by people who were not there in the moment.

Despite that, our providers continue to show up. They continue to serve. They continue to put the citizens of this county first.

This week, we celebrate the dedication, professionalism, resilience, and heart of every EMT, paramedic, dispatcher, supervisor, and support staff member who makes this system function. Thank you for what you do for Marlboro County every day.

Dr. Douglas Nederostek stopped by EMS Headquarters to take a photo with our Small System of the Year plaque, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We want to give a strong shout out and a sincere thank you to Dr. Nederostek for his leadership, trust, and commitment to our team. His support allows us to keep pushing forward and raising the standard of prehospital care right here in our rural community.

We’re proud to have you in our corner, Doc.

This week we recognize the calm voices behind the chaos, our dispatchers.

Every call that comes in, they’re the first to answer. They take fear, confusion and panic and turn it into direction, reassurance and action. Before lights ever hit the road, before a siren cracks the night sky, they’re already making a difference, guiding callers through the worst moments of their lives and setting our crews up for success.

They don’t get the scene, the sirens or the spotlight, but they carry just as much weight. The one keeping a caller calm while help is on the way. The one managing multiple emergencies at once, making split second decisions that impact lives across the entire county.

Behind every successful call is a dispatcher who kept it together when it mattered most. Long hours, constant pressure and not a second to slow down, and they still show up steady, professional and committed every single time.

In a rural county like ours, where resources are stretched and distances are long, their role becomes even more critical. They are the lifeline between our community and the help they need. They know our roads, our people and our crews, and they make sure the right help gets to the right place at the right time.

To our dispatchers, you are the unseen backbone of this system. You are trusted, you are respected and you are appreciated more than words can ever fully capture.

From all of us on the road, thank you for everything you do, every shift, every call and every time.

Happy Telecommunicators Week. 🖤💛
