Are you worried about the cost of living is rapidly increasing however your income remains the same or your raise doesn’t make up the difference?
Do you wish that we had members of the Texas House of Representatives understood what it means to struggle?
Do you wish that someone from your community would run?
Do you want someone that will listen to you and vote your voice?
My name, Diane Symons will appear on the Democrat primary ballot in March for Texas House of Representative District 97. The district includes Benbrook, Crowley, White Settlement, Ridglea Hills, TCU area and southwest Fort Worth. I have lived in every section of the district at some point in my adult life, although I have always claimed Benbrook as my home.
I was adopted at 3 months old and was brought to Benbrook. Today, I live and own that same house.
I am upset that the current Rep for 97, John McQueeny, voted against what the people in his districted wanted which was no school vouchers. Our students, parents, and teachers in public schools matter. Public schools got a $50 increase per child per year. That is not enough. Standardized tests need to go, however instead of once a year, they voted to have three times a year.
Abbott rejected federal funds that Texans pay yearly to the IRS for students to have food in the summer and money for special education.
Benbrook residents voted on who they wanted to represent us at Commissioners court, however Tim O’Hare and the two Republicans decided to change the precinct maps so they could pickup one of the two democratic precincts. Since, there are 3 Reps vs 2 Dems on the Commissioners Court, they always get their way.
We must stop the struggle. The United States and Texas have enough money that no one should be struggling.
I want to increase minimum wage to $20 per hour and add $1 every year that Texas’ economy grows. If we would have done that in 2009, minimum wage would currently be $22.25, which would have been a livable wage even with inflation. I want to provide a tax credit for small businesses and franchise owners, so they can stay in business while paying employees a higher salary.
I want to provide Texans $10k a year for trade school or college, so they can follow their passion and their dreams. Nothing is free in life. They would have to perform community service to help beautify their community and learn the different cultures within.
I will continue to post more on my platform.
