Please join us Saturday 9/26, morning or afternoon, to help preserve our Belvidere YMCA. Their Strong Kids Campaign, athletic programs, and child care assistance all promote healthy living and strong values. The Bridges United Project is excited to help our local YMCA promote a happy, healthy, and safe environment by helping the Y with a little fall cleanup and maintenance.
We want to help all people in our community find common ground through productive cooperation. Helping community focused organizations like the YMCA is an excellent place to start! By filling our world with acts of kindness, we guard it from destructive thoughts, words, actions, and eventually, characters.
With that in mind, and building off Belvidere’s first Solidarity March and Peace Rally, The Bridges United Project remains diligent in our commitment toward a safer, equitable future. The shooting of Jacob Blake, Kenosha law enforcement’s initially questionable support of white vigilante justice, turmoil in Portland, and Seattle’s unrest are only some of the most recent outcomes of The United States’ catastrophic and systemic racial oppression.
Please join us in the spirit of patience and unity. In kindness and humility. In charity and compassion. Help us help the people that work hard to keep our community healthy, happy, and safe.
Your unique experiences are great value to everyone in our community. We encourage you to come share your skills, meet new people, and work together to make the world a better place.
We will run 2 shifts on 9/26, the first from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, and the second in the afternoon from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Sign up to lend a hand. If you aren’t sure community service is for you, at least send a message to check it out!
We will ask volunteers to divide in two groups. One group will help with cleaning, weeding, and raking out the sand volleyball pit. Another group will be rebuilding planter boxes and helping install fencing. Please let us know where you think you’d fit best! Please fill out the google form below.
Peace, Unity, Love for our Community!
Please sign up for morning or afternoon. We will meet at 220 W Locust St. in Belvidere.
