Please be cautious within the city limits today. The public works department is trimming limbs and bushes that are hanging out in the streets.
There may be times when the streets are down to one lane or completely closed temporary.

Weather forecasts indicate snowfall tonight and early morning. The city is adequately prepared, but citizen cooperation is appreciated. Specifically, given that tomorrow is trash day, keeping trash bins off the street would be helpful.

What is the reason for the thin layer of snow on the streets? Snowfall began at 26 degrees, at which point applying salt to melt the snow could have been an option, but with temperatures dropping rapidly, there would not have been enough time for the surface to dry. Additionally, our salt is ineffective in temperatures below 17 degrees, which would have led to the formation of black ice this morning. Therefore, the decision was made to leave the snow on the streets.

Update: The repairs were made today. We done some clean up and was able to provide mutual aid to our sister city. Rumor has it we have more snow on the way.

The city has one plow truck and unfortunately is currently out of service.
We broke the main pen on the plow tonight.
It will be repaired tomorrow morning hopefully. We plowed/ salted for 36 hours before we had any issues.

If you are pushing snow in the city limits of Bedford with a tractor or four wheeler or UT, please do not push the snow out of the street. Also, please let me plow the city streets while I appreciate your efforts. It causes me more heartache than it does.

Good morning. It appears we got about an hour before the snow gets here. All the streets have been pre-treated with salt the latest forecast that I am hearing is 8 to 10 inches.
Only get out if you have to. Be safe.

This storm is still 12 to 16 hours away and then we’re still not sure what it’s gonna do.  I’ve been doing snow removal for 28 years and and none of the storms are the same.
The city will be out in full force prior to its arrival in the morning. We will lay down a thin layer of salt and then we just push and do the best we can.
Please park your cars as close to the curb as possible there’s going to be a lot of snow and we’ve got to have someplace to put it. Check your trash cans and get them in your yardPlease understand the street in front of your house may not be clean, but we will try to keep them passable until this storm passes. Then we will make every effort to have them clean.
