She is the First Lady of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, which she and her husband, Pastor Michael Wicker founded in January of 2014. She is also a City Councilwoman for the City of Baton Rouge, serving the constituents of District 10. Tara served in the Office of the Mayor President for the City of Baton Rouge as Assistant Chief Administrative Officer during Mayor Bobby Simpson's administration. For several years she worked as a Program Officer and Community Organizer for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, where she established five local Community Development Corporations (CDC's) and championed other community revitalization efforts throughout the City Baton Rouge. In addition, Tara served as Executive Assistant for the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. She is currently serving her third term as Chairman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Planning Commission. Tara served as a United Way Board Member and was the Chairman for the Community Investment Cabinet and Co-Chaired the Women's Leadership Council.Tara is a dedicated and passionate Christian and community activist who believes strongly in the value of the family unit. She has lived and worked throughout the City of Baton Rouge for most of her life and career.Tara has been married for 23 years to her high school sweetheart, Michael Wicker, former Louisiana State Trooper, Pastor and local business owner. She is the mother of six children, Tya, Trinity, Michael-Joel Mya, and Magnus and Mailey-Grace. Tara's passion is urban community revitalization, small business development, and ministry to the TOTAL person. She and her husband host and teach several Life Academies including Couple's Academy International, Couple ER, Wealth Academy, Advanced Wealth Academy, Young Kings and Young Queen's Academy (ages 5-17), Kingsmen, and My Lovely Ladies (ages 18-25), and Health Academy.
