📢 WORKSHOP POSTPONED

Our “Being a Friend in Grief” workshop originally scheduled for Thursday, September 10th has been postponed.

We know many of you were looking forward to this thoughtful and important conversation about how we can better support friends, family members, and neighbors who are experiencing grief and loss.

We WILL be rescheduling! ❤️

Please stay tuned for a new date and time. We’ll share the updated information as soon as it is available.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Barre/Hardwick Senior Center for this special workshop soon. 🌿

🎉 Congratulations to Our 2026–2027 Council on Aging Board Officers! 🎉

The Barre/Hardwick Senior Center is pleased to congratulate our newly elected Council on Aging Board officers:

⭐ David Flick — Chair
⭐ Joanne Johnson — Vice Chair
⭐ Barry Koch — Secretary

Our Council on Aging Board plays an important role in helping guide the work of the Senior Center. Board members provide oversight and support, help identify the changing needs of older adults in our communities, advocate for programs and services, and work with the Director to help ensure the Center continues to grow and serve Barre and Hardwick well.

As Chair, David will help lead the Board and keep its work moving forward. Joanne will support that leadership as Vice Chair and step in when needed, while Barry, as Secretary, will help ensure the Board’s meetings and actions are accurately documented.

But their roles are about more than titles. Strong leadership means asking questions, sharing ideas, listening to our seniors, supporting new opportunities, and helping us plan thoughtfully for the future.

We have accomplished so much at the Barre/Hardwick Senior Center, and there is even more ahead. We look forward to working alongside David, Joanne, Barry, and the entire Council on Aging Board as we continue building a Senior Center that is welcoming, active, responsive, and truly reflects the people we serve.

💙💛 Congratulations, David, Joanne, and Barry! Here’s to a great 2026–2027 year!

📣 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — AND OUR AREA REALLY NEEDS YOU!

We're seeing a high volume of requests for Tax-Aide assistance in the Barre/Hardwick area, and we need more volunteers to meet the demand.

This is a great opportunity to learn something new, meet people, and make a real difference right here in our community. You’ll receive training and support, so you don’t need to be a tax expert to get involved!

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides FREE tax-filing assistance to those who need it most, and volunteers are what make this valuable program possible.

❤️ Your time and willingness to help could make tax season a whole lot easier for someone in our community.

Several volunteer opportunities are available —not all positions involve preparing taxes!

Interested? Check out the flyer for more information and to apply.

Please consider giving it a try and helping us bring more Tax-Aide assistance to the Barre/Hardwick area!

Congratulations Ed for being our 500th Facebook follower and being one of the best bus drivers.

✍️ Have you ever thought, “I’m not a writer” or “I wouldn’t even know what to write about”?

Then our Writer’s Group might be exactly the place for you.

You do not need writing experience. You don’t need to know how to write a story, and you definitely don’t need to consider yourself a “writer.” Maybe you’ve never written anything before. That’s okay!

Everyone has something worth putting into words—a funny memory, a family story, something from childhood, an experience you’ll never forget, or simply a thought you’d like to explore.

Our first Writer’s Group was so successful that we’re bringing it back, and this time we especially want to encourage those of you who have never tried writing before.

❤️ Give it a try!
You may discover something you never knew you enjoyed.

There’s no pressure to be perfect. No grades. No experience required. Just a welcoming group of people writing, sharing, learning, laughing, and encouraging one another.
