BRIDGE RESTRICTION – TRUCK TRAFFIC - COMERFORD DAM ROAD IN EAST BARNET

Bridge #10 over the Passumpsic River on Comerford Dam Road in East Barnet is closed to TRUCK traffic effective immediately (4 September 2026). This restriction for the benefit of public safety is in response to deck deterioration discovered in an inspection performed by the Vermont Agency of Transportation. The restriction is expected to last several weeks, until temporary repairs are performed. Suggested detour routes on US Route 5 North, Old Silo Road, and Bridge Street. Thank you for your patience.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection - Saturday, August 22

Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District hazardous waste collection event at Barnet Recycling Center on Saturday, August 22 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Please note associated fees will be charged at the time of disposal and the limit for all materials accepted is 15-gallons. Please visit barnetvt.org for more information.

SHORTENED/CLOSED OFFICE HOURS

Please note the Town Clerk's Office will have shortened/closed hours the week of June 22nd – June 26th:

• Monday, June 22– Closing at 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, June 23 – Closing at 1 p.m.
• Wednesday, June 24 – CLOSED
• Thursday, June 25 – Closing at 1 p.m.
• Friday, June 26 – Closing at 1 p.m.

Normal hours will resume Monday, June 29.

BARNET TRANSFER STATION/RECYCLING CENTER - SUMMER HOURS 2026
The hours of operation of the Transfer Station/Recycling Center for the period of May 27, 2026 through September 2, 2026 will be as follows:
- Wednesdays: 3-7 PM
- Saturdays: 8 AM- 3 PM

This facility is for the disposal of waste generated by residents and taxpayers within the Town of Barnet. A sticker is required for use of this facility and can be obtained at the Barnet Town Clerk’s Office or at the Transfer Station.
