Many friends & family gathered today at the Barbourville Tourism Center to honor Dianne Simpson, late President of Knox Arts, Crafts and Humanities Council. She was instrumental in starting Kids College Art Camp, writing grants for the Quilt Block Project, Very Special Artists (VSA) program, Art Behind Bars program at the jail & was a skilled fiber artist & basket weaver on the Kentucky Arts Council’s roster of artists. She has worked with so many of our teachers and students in the Tri-County region and is well loved by her community. The last quilt block she painted will be installed on Hwy 25 E in front of the Cumberland Valley Electric building.

Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, we will holding a reception in honor of our late president, Dianne Simpson. We have re-set the last quilt block she helped us paint, and we are dedicating it to her for her contributions to the arts in our community. Refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there.

It is with heavy hearts that we have lost our dear friend and Chairwoman of the Knox Arts, Crafts and Humanities Council, Dianne Simpson. Her battle with cancer ended on Wed. There will be a walk-thru Memorial at Trace Branch United Methodist Church this Saturday, Oct 24th, beginning at 1 p.m. We will require masks and social distancing inside the church. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family & friends!❤️🙏🏼

After our April Arts Council meeting, we are sad to announce that Kids College Art Camp will be cancelled this summer! You will be issued a full refund or your check will be returned if you have already paid. We are heartbroken for our campers, their families, and our summer staff. This is not the summer any of us had planned. We recognize this is one more loss during this pandemic; however, we are committed to coming back stronger than ever in 2021! You are in our thoughts and prayers. We will get through this together!
