Baraboo Police Department Assists in the Safe Apprehension of Milwaukee Homicide Suspect
Baraboo, WI – On October 21, 2025, an on duty officer with the Baraboo Police Department was contacted by a citizen who provided credible information that a homicide suspect was believed to be traveling to the City of Baraboo to seek medical services.
Acting promptly, Baraboo officers worked in close coordination with the Milwaukee Police Department to verify that the individual, Walter Lorenzo Jones, was indeed wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in the City of Milwaukee. Once confirmation was received, the Baraboo Police Department partnered with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (ERT) to develop a tactical plan to safely apprehend the suspect.
Through the combined efforts of all involved agencies, Walter was taken into custody without incident, ensuring the safety of the public, responding officers, and medical staff.
Chief Justin Carloni expressed his appreciation for the professionalism and teamwork demonstrated by all departments involved, stating:
“This successful outcome reflects the strong collaboration between local and state law enforcement agencies. By working together, we continue to uphold our shared commitment to the safety of our citizens, the protection of our communities, and justice for victims. We are grateful for the vigilance of our community members and the outstanding cooperation shown by the Milwaukee Police Department and Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.”
The Baraboo Police Department extends sincere thanks to the local citizen whose timely information contributed to this successful resolution. This case underscores the importance of community partnerships and interagency cooperation in maintaining public safety across Wisconsin.
