REMINDER OF SHUTDOWN:
All customer affected were hand delivered notices.
Dear Customer:
As part of our maintenance program, Bangor Water District will need to temporarily interrupt water service to you and some of your neighbors beginning at approximately 6:00 AM on September 1, 2026 (*Alternate date September 2, 2026). Because this work involves underground facilities over a century old, the exact time to complete the repair is difficult to predict but we estimate that we should be able to complete the work in 10 hours or less.
We recognize how much you rely on your water service and would prefer not to have to shut it down, but the valve installation work to be completed during this period should help to minimize both the duration and the geographic extent of future shutdowns for upgrade or repair of water facilities in your neighborhood.
You are receiving this notice because your property will be impacted. The general area of the shutdown includes the following:
• 101- 115 Mecaw Rd
• 11 – 28 Penobscot Meadow Dr
• Hydrants 1491,813,1209,800,1214,1215,1287,1283,1284,1285,1286,1288,1289,1478
• Please share this information with tenants, customers, and visitors to your building as soon as possible.
We apologize for this interruption in service, and we appreciate your patience as we improve our water distribution system. After service has been restored, you may experience some discoloration (rust colored or cloudy) or noise from air. These characteristics should go away quickly and can usually be helped along by running a tap for a few minutes. Make sure that all of your taps are running clear before doing laundry or dishes to avoid staining. If the color and air continue to be a problem for more than a few hours, please contact us with your location and the problem that you are experiencing. It can be helpful for us to understand whether a problem is widespread or specific to your service. Our business hours are 7 AM – 3:30PM Monday – Friday, except holidays.

Outside of normal office hours, you can contact our Water Treatment Facility at 207-843-6472 which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
