Neighbors, a heads-up worth sharing.

A dead fox found in the West Arlington area, right up against our Ashburton borders, has tested positive for rabies according to Baltimore City health officials. The fox was picked up near the 4300 block of Groveland Avenue, and the health department is asking folks in that area to take a few simple precautions.

Here's what they're recommending:

Check your pets for any bites or unusual wounds. If you find anything suspicious, contact your vet right away.

Make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations. Rabies is preventable, but it's serious if it goes untreated.

Keep your distance from any fox or wild animal acting strangely, and don't handle a sick or dead animal yourself.

If you think you or your pet may have had contact with a fox, call the Baltimore City Health Department at 410-396-4436 during business hours, or the city operator at 410-396-3100 after hours and on weekends.

No need to panic. This is just about staying aware and keeping our families and our pets safe. Please share this with your neighbors so the word gets around. That's what we do out here, we look out for each other.

Love what's happening in Ashburton? Let's keep it going.

All year long you've seen it right here. The neighborhood walks, the backpack drive for our kids, Dumpster Day, the cleanups, the smiling faces coming together. None of that happens on its own. It happens because neighbors invest in this community.

That's what your dues are. Just $30 a household for the whole year, and they power all of it. General body meetings, block parties at Hanlon Park, National Night Out, Fall Fest, Christmas caroling, the newsletter, beautification, book club and game nights, and so much more.

Thirty dollars. One year. A stronger Ashburton.

Paying is quick and easy. Scan the QR code on the flyer, or click this link https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/ZK4E53TRES8G6 to pay your dues right now. Questions? Reach out to your block captain or the Ashburton Area Association and we'll get you squared away.

Let's build on this momentum together. Pay your dues today and keep Ashburton thriving.

Ashburton, here's one for your calendar.

Our District 41 legislative delegation is hosting a planning session, and every resident is invited to come share what matters to you. This is your chance to speak up about the issues you care about and help shape the priorities for our district going forward.

Monday, September 14th
6:00 PM
Langston Hughes Community, Business, and Resource Center
5011 Arbutus Ave, Baltimore, MD 21215

It's a hybrid meeting, so you can come in person or join by Zoom. They're asking folks to RSVP by September 11th to [email protected], and the Zoom link will be sent to those who RSVP. Light refreshments will be provided for anyone attending in person.

However you feel about anything else, this is simply a chance to be heard. When our neighbors show up and speak up, Ashburton is better for it. Pass the word to anyone who'd want to know.

Now this is Ashburton.

Neighbors out together, smiling, side by side, faces old and new all in one frame. This is the good stuff. The reason this neighborhood feels like home isn't the houses or the streets, it's the people standing on them.

We love seeing you out there. So let's fill this page with those faces.

Show us your pics. Snap a photo with your neighbors, your block, your crew, whoever makes Ashburton feel like home to you, and drop it in the comments. Tag the neighbors in your photo so they can see it too, and let's see just how far these smiles spread.

Because when we come together, this is what it looks like. And it looks pretty good.

Ashburton came out strong on Saturday.

This past Saturday, August 29th, was Dumpster Day over at 3500 Wabash Avenue, and our neighbors came ready to work. Brooms, gloves, muscle, and good energy. By noon, that dumpster was packed to the top with household items, furniture, and everything we cleared out to keep our streets clean and our neighborhood looking its best.

A big thank you to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for partnering with the Ashburton Area Association to make this happen. Days like this take real hands on deck, and you all delivered.

This is what community looks like. Nobody had to be asked twice. Folks just rolled up their sleeves, got to work, and did it side by side.

To everyone who came out, hauled, swept, and lent a hand, thank you. When we take care of Ashburton, we're taking care of each other.

That's how we do it out here. Proud of this neighborhood every single day.

Tomorrow, Ashburton. We walk.

Set your alarm and get those sneakers by the door tonight, because in the morning we're stepping out together.

Meeting at Dennlyn and Dorchester Streets

Come as you are. Bring the kids, bring the dog, bring a neighbor you haven't caught up with in a while. There's no pace to keep and no pressure. Just good company, fresh air, and a morning spent enjoying the streets we love.

Every step builds a stronger community. See you out there in the morning. One community, one purpose, one Ashburton.

Everybody's got a reason they love it here.

For some it's stepping outside and ending up talking to three neighbors before you make it back in. For some it's the porches, the gardens, the big old trees that have been standing longer than any of us. For some it's just the feeling of pulling onto your street and knowing you're home.

Ashburton is more than an address. It's the people, the history, and the small moments that add up to something you can't quite put into words but you feel every single day.

So we're asking. What makes Ashburton special to you?
Drop it in the comments. One memory, one reason, one thing you love. Let's remind each other exactly why this neighborhood is worth it.

No pressure, no pace to keep up with. Just neighbors out enjoying the morning, saying hello, and taking a little pride in the streets we call home. Every step really does build a stronger community.

So set that alarm, get your shoes by the door tonight, and we'll see you Saturday morning. One community, one purpose, one Ashburton.

This is what community looks like.

We got word about properties here in Ashburton that had gotten away from itself. Yard overgrown, front to back. Instead of just talking about it, we went and looked, checked in with neighbors, and got to work.

Big shout out to the Ashburton community, our veterans, White Glove Service, and Tori and Micah. These folks showed up with tools, muscle, and heart, and turned it around.

Swipe through and see the before and after for yourself. This is exactly why we love it here. When something needs doing, neighbors step up. Nobody stood around asking whose job it was. We just handled it, because this is our community, and taking care of it makes every one of us stronger.

That's Ashburton. That's who we are.

If you love this as much as we do, shout out to this incredible team..
