Black Girls Vote (BGV) is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization committed to uplifting the black community through education.

Our objective is to encourage Black women to utilize their voting power to address concerns that affect women of color. Based in Baltimore, MD., Black Girls Vote (BGV) is a 501c3 non-partisan organization that was established in October 2015 with Nykidra Robinson as its CEO & Founder. BGV is designed to represent the concerns and interests of Black women. However, BGV is not affiliated with any po

litical party. We are invested in ensuring that Black women are empowered to advance education, economic development, quality health care, and improve outcomes within the communities, while taking action for policy at the voting polls. This is the last stretch before the general election season really picks up.

If your state is listed, now is the time to make a plan and show up.

Progress is complicated.

We can celebrate how far we’ve come while being clear about how long it took for that progress to reach all of us.

And if history has taught us anything, it’s that rights mean a whole lot more when we actually use them.

So today, we honor the women who kept pushing, organizing, and showing up anyway. And we keep showing up too. 🤎

For generations, access to the ballot has been challenged through poll taxes, literacy tests, intimidation and discriminatory laws. The tactics have changed, but barriers to voting didn’t disappear.

In 2026, voters are still navigating voter-roll purges, stricter registration requirements and new restrictions on voting access. In fact, at least 19 states have enacted 44 restrictive voting laws since the beginning of 2025.

So what can you do?

Check your registration. Know the voting rules where you live. Know your rights. Make your plan. And use your vote.

And between now and November 3, there’s plenty of time to get prepared. Know what’s on your ballot. Know where you stand. Know when, where, and how you plan to vote.

Because decisions are going to be made either way. We want you informed, prepared, and ready to make your voice count.
