Hi, I am Hector Bas and I am running for Mayor of Reno, TX.
My Vision for Reno:
• Budget - In order to have a sufficient government, we must be able to spend within our means. This will be my day 1 priority, I will not wait until the end of the term to start working on the budget.
• Water Infrastructure – Past reports show over $12 million in repairs. The lack of any budget to systematically fix, not patch, the problems is a major source of fund depletion. Without being an expert in this matter, I would want to continue pressing hard for solutions short and long term. But, most importantly here is seeking advice from experts in the field and work to improve the lacking water infrastructure the city has been plagued with for years.
• Roads – Many roads in Reno need attention. I’ve had many conversations with concerned tax paying citizens who were promised better roads, yet saw other roads in much better condition repaired while there roads remain neglected. While I cannot promise immediate resolution, I do promise to have discussions and when budget is available, tackle these in a systematic approach.
• Neighbors helping Neighbors – I really do believe in the buddy system. With the City’s lack of a functioning budget, the community plays the biggest role in filling the gaps.
• One House Per Acre (OHPA) – My wife and I came here to live in the country. The more acreage the better, as we like having the space between neighbors. And to be honest, I would like to see 2 acres or more per house, so that those homeowners could have a choice of having a well. With our current water situation, our water cannot support ¼ - ½ acre lots. It will only bog down the system and we will end up doubling / tripling the complaints that we are already having.
I would like your support by voting for me on May 6, 2023, as well as the following council places:
• Jennifer Vogle - Place 4 Council
• Hernando Herrera - Place 1 Council
• Todd Siedell - Place 2 Council
I believe this team has the a potential to work together and make positive and thoughtful impact for Reno’s future.
