Both the driver and passenger walked away with very minor injuries thanks to seat belts. The driver was going too fast (40-50mph in a posted 25), missed a corner in the dark of the night, then hit a guard rail. For whatever reason the airbags of the car didn't deploy to assist the seat belts.

During Click it or Ticket law enforcement across the country contact drivers for not wearing their seat belts. I hear a similar reason repeatedly; "but my car has airbags." If you read the label you'll see that lots of them are labeled as "SRS" which stands for Supplemental Restraint System. Long story short, the airbags supplement the seat belt, they don't replace them. The airbag is basically a pillow (deploying at around 200mph) to catch your head and reduce neck injury.

With all that said, it was a relief to find that nobody was hurt with this crash. The crash would have ended very differently without seat belts to save the day.

Before everyone gets into an uproar that the puppy should have a harness to really be buckled in, I'm aware. With that said, still a very cute puppy on its way to its new home.

For all those who plan to travel to view the eclipse, please take the extra 3 seconds to put on a seatbelt. There will be a lot of extra traffic in the total eclipse areas so please be careful.

Colorado Click it or Ticket starts tomorrow. Don't just wear the seat belt to avoid a ticket, wear it because your life matters and you want to live in the event of a crash.

Working a left lane closure on the interstate earlier today. With a little down time why not enjoy the view. We may have been stopped but we still kept our seat belt on just in case a driver hit us from behind.

Take the less than 3 seconds to save a life, your own! Put on your seat belt. Winter is here and if you slide into a ditch or into a curb without a seat belt on this could easily be you. Learn from these dummies and buckle up. It WILL save your life.

It's a law in all 50 states. Please slow down and move over when you see flashing lights. Nobody wants the guilt of accidentally killing a first responder or anyone on the side of the road.

PLEASE! When you see BLUE, RED or AMBER flashing lights, SLOW DOWN, MOVE OVER and YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY! Our lives AND YOURS depend on it! Please share this post with everyone you can!
