We will be sharing tips and information from local residents, the County, Emergency Management, and safety experts. This forum is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

Sunday, August 9, 8:30 am update: Great news - Highway 12 is much improved! 🙌🏽 There is standing water in some areas, but the flooding has receded and is no longer across both lanes. It’s a little deeper on the East side for about 30 feet.

Saturday, August 8, 12 noon update: **expect delays and traffic, especially if you are heading north on Highway 12!** Traffic is currently backed up to the roundabout in Rodanthe.

Otherwise, the noon update is pretty much the same as the 9 am - there is still a short stretch of flooding about a mile north of Pea Island Visitor Center that is a few inches deep, and a few areas of standing water in the north bound lane between Rodanthe and Oregon Inlet. All are easily passable. It’s sunny and beautiful again today, so hopefully the water will continue to dissipate.
Please be courteous to other drivers and don’t splash them, there will be a lot of traffic going on and off Island today. 🙏 Be safe out there!

All are easily passable. It’s sunny and beautiful again today, so hopefully the water will continue to dissipate.

Friday, August 7, afternoon update - flooding persists across both lanes of Highway 12, about a mile north of Pea Island Visitor Center. It’s roughly 4 inches deep. We have sunny, breezy weather again today, hopefully the flooding will recede/dry some more.

Thursday, August 6, 8 am update - there is still flooding across both lanes of Highway 12, about a mile north of Pea Island Visitor Center. There are a few areas of standing water in the north bound lane between Rodanthe and Oregon Inlet, but the water has receded in the Tri Villages.
Looks like we will have a sunny day today, hopefully more of the standing water will dry up. Have a great day! ☀️
