Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services The Heart of the Community. CRS is a privately run, non-profit agency committed to addressing social service needs on a local basis.

The agency’s programs include emergency aid, information, referral and advocacy, transportation of senior citizens and help and support for families in need. CRS has a food pantry and also represents the Salvation Army in Avon and Avon Lake.

Emergency food on a limited basis, and referral to sites where additional food is available.

Emergency utility and medical assistance, either through the Salvation Army or CRS. Strict guidelines are maintained to assure the best possible use of resources.

The Salvation Army has designated CRS as its agent for the distribution of locally raised funds in Avon and Avon Lake.

Advocacy with housing, utilities, public assistance and basic human need problems, including information about qualifying for home heating, food stamps and homestead exemption programs.

Volunteer outreach services to the homebound or handicapped, and to those who may need respite care, transportation, budget counseling, or a "good listener.
