This post is about Austin's Homeless and how you can help this Saturday morning.

Remember last year when you saw the news story about the annual homeless count that had just took place and you thought, "damn - I wanted to do that and I missed it." Well friend, I am giving you that last minute chance. You can volunteer with me this Saturday morning at an easy 6am to interview and homeless count here in SW Austin (Map Section 71).

The Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO) is the lead agency that implements community-wide strategies to end homelessness in Austin and Travis County.

This Saturday early morning is the Point In Time Count (PIT Count). This is an annual census of the homeless population in the Austin/Travis County area. Early in the morning of January 25th, 2020, hundreds of volunteers will head out across Austin/Travis County to count every person experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Volunteers will count people sleeping in cars, tents, parks, under bridges, and on the streets. The information from this count is used to guide public policy and is vital for securing resources to help end homelessness in our community.

I have few spots left and would love you to come join me, Theresa Bastian, and others. It is not too late but I need you to register by tomorrow and take the online training. We will go over portions of the training again on Saturday morning. Feel free to call or IM me with any questions.

You can register here - https://www.austinecho.org/pit/

You can watch a news story about it here - https://www.fox7austin.com/…/city-of-austin-seeking-volunte…

Best regards,

Rich DePalma

The last day of early vote is over and I am just leaving the Randall’s parking lot after spending much time here over the last two weeks. It has been an exhausting week but to see Austinites in an incredibly long 2.5 hour line on a Friday night just swells my heart with pride in our city and democracy. Thank you SW Austin!

As the first week of early voting ends, I'm reminded that this campaign has always been about the best representation for Southwest families. That’s why, Tali, my campaign manager, and I voted with our families. Because it’s not just my family I’m fighting for, but for every single Southwest Austin family who hasn’t felt represented at City Hall. I hope to have your support. Early voting ends on November 2.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me thus far. We have accomplished so much together! Between thousands of doors and countless questionnaires and forums, we are so close to the end of the campaign. We still have a couple hurdles to overcome. Tomorrow marks my final fundraising deadline for the general election. I'm still $3500 away from reaching my goal though. Can you help me one more time to reach this goal?

I am running for Austin City Council because now more than ever our community needs an experienced, thoughtful, and common-sense leader that is committed to: protecting what makes Southwest Austin special, promoting creative infrastructure solutions for our district, bringing our fair share of city....

Big thank you to University Democrats for hosting a phone bank for the campaign! It was great with voters about how we can keep Southwest Austin special. We still another week of early voting and we’ll be hosting more phone banks and blockwalks. Let me know if you can dedicate a little time to contact voters!

Just finished the final campaign forum of the cycle! I’m grateful to Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods (OHAN) for hosting a forum with hard hitting questions. For the first time in 6 years, it was great to be a participant instead of the organizer.

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight! I hope to have earned your vote. If you haven’t voted yet, you can still early vote until Nov. 2.

Thank you for everything you have done to help me get this far. Our campaign completed over 35 questionnaires, attended over 10 candidate forums, knocked, texted, and called over 10,000 voters. Now all of our work shifts to getting out the vote! Early voting starts today and ends on November 2nd. Election Day is November 6. If you live in District 8, I hope to have earned your vote. Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes today. All I want is your early vote tomorrow and a brief video letting your friends know why I have your support!

Had a fantastic time celebrating TreeFolks tonight with friends, who also happen to be my colleagues. Our green spaces—from Dick Nichols, the Greenbelt, to Barton Springs—are a big part of what makes this city special. Now more than ever, we need to protect and champion our environment. I’m proud of the work we’ve done at TreeFolks, and I’m proud of the folks I’ve worked with to get it done.
