We had such a great time walking in the Aurora PRIDE parade today! Becoming - Oswego πŸŒˆπŸ’—

We believe every person deserves to be seen, valued, and loved.

Walking together today was a celebration of the truth that everyone deserves to experience joy, connection, safety, and the freedom to be welcomed exactly as they are.

More pics to come! Happy PRIDE y’all! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

We are proud we helped be a part of life-saving efforts again for our unsheltered neighbors πŸ’› Becoming/ WC folks fed our neighbors pizza and went to campsites to get our neighbors to bring them to shelter with our trained volunteers at the train station… we gave out ponchos to those who chose to stay at their tents to protect their homes.

After the storms started to let up, we helped install two new tents for our neighbors to keep them safe from the elements and hopefully, criminalization.

We keep us safe πŸ’›

Last night, some of our guests stood before City Council and shared their stories, their realities, and their voices. We are incredibly proud of their courage and grateful they chose to speak not only for themselves, but for so many others who are unhoused and navigating instability every day.

When we headed back, we got some T-Bell party packs and had the opportunity to watch those moments back together… reflecting not only on what was said, but on the impact it had. Watching our guests realize that their voices matter, that they were heard, and that their experiences can create change was something truly powerful.

We are humbled to stand beside them.

Their stories matter and this work is far from over.

The need is far from over. Our local shelters continue to have to operate on waitlists.. people are still going hungry, still needing clothing, and are still seeking resources outside our center every single day.

On June 9th, we’ll be presenting at city hall to share more about the impact this community has made, thank those who have played integral roles in this work, and create space for guest voices, reflection, and what comes next.

Becoming Church and our community remain committed to walking alongside our guests, meeting needs, and building community together.

The need is still here. The work continues. And our neighbors’ voices will continue leading the way.
