The Essential Plan - The Essential Plan's Full Financial Picture - Video #13 -

Dr. Paul Milcetich provides a transparent breakdown of "The Essential Plan" financial details as the project moves forward. These costs follow the latest state cost guidelines and includes a new elementary school, a new transportation facility, and essential renovations to other district facilities. These are designed to extend the lifespan of existing district buildings.

By law, bond funds are reserved for capital improvements, ensuring that this amount is used on improving the safe, functional, and efficient infrastructure for ACSD students.

The Essential Plan - The New Home for the Board of Education - Video #12

As a part of “The Essential Plan,” the district’s administration facilities will be consolidated. Currently housed in Craddock Elementary, the Board of Education and administrative offices will be relocated to a dedicated facility behind the existing Kohanski Conference Center. This move is designed to maximize the use of current district-owned land, avoiding the costs of purchasing new property and ensuring administrative operations remain centralized and effective.

By moving administrative offices out of academic school buildings, the entire school footprint of the new 1-3 Elementary school will be dedicated to instructional activities and student-focused spaces. This approach reflects a growing trend in 2026 school facility planning, where districts are prioritizing "adaptive reuse" and strategic property management to lower long-term overhead. Consolidating services under one roof streamlines day-to-day operations and relocates the offices to capitalize on proximity of other district buildings.

The Essential Plan - The Cost of Demolition and Abatement - Video #11

“The Essential Plan” accounts for the safe removal of the structures impacted by the plan. To make way for modern facilities, the century-old Craddock Elementary and the existing bus garage will be demolished. Because of the age of these buildings, the process includes environmental abatement to handle any hazardous materials that must be removed by specialists under state and federal safety laws before new construction begins.

The plan accounts for the approximately $1.8 million in demolition costs for Craddock Elementary and $126,000 for the existing bus garage. These figures reflect the complete lifecycle of the project, ensuring that the ground is prepared responsibly and safely for the next generation of Greenmen.

By addressing these infrastructure needs now, the district is ensuring that our future buildings are constructed on a foundation that meets standards for health and safety.
