The Communications Manager will play a key leadership role in shaping Augusta’s public relations and media strategies. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive communication plans that enhance the city’s image, inform the public, and support Augusta’s strategic initiatives. The Communications Manager will collaborate with government officials, media representatives, and community stakeholders to ensure effective and timely messaging across multiple platforms.

Position Overview:
Augusta, Georgia seeks an innovative and strategic leader to serve as its next Communications Manager. The chosen candidate will be responsible for crafting and delivering compelling messages, managing media relations, and overseeing digital and traditional communication channels. The Communications Manager will also play a crucial role in crisis communication, branding, and community outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a city-wide communications strategy that aligns with Augusta’s goals and values.
Manage public relations initiatives, including media relations, press releases, and crisis communication.
Oversee the city's social media presence, website content, and digital engagement efforts.
Serve as the primary media liaison and spokesperson for Augusta, Georgia Government.
Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote city programs, services, and initiatives.
Create and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, community partners, and stakeholders.
Coordinate internal communications to ensure alignment across departments and effective messaging.
Plan and execute public events, press conferences, and community outreach programs.
Monitor media trends, public sentiment, and communication effectiveness to refine strategies.
Ensure compliance with communication regulations and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or business/public administration.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Expertise in media relations, crisis communication, and digital engagement.
Excellent writing, editing, and public speaking skills.
Knowledge of branding, marketing, and content strategy.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in using communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.

Compensation:
Augusta, Georgia offers a competitive salary range of $62,636.00 - $72,032.00, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Are you ready to make a difference in your community? Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC), one of the largest architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, is looking for Disaster Debris Monitors to help manage disaster debris removal operations here in Augusta, Georgia.

🌟 Key Responsibilities:
-Conduct on-site monitoring of disaster debris removal activities.
-Document and report debris removal progress and any issues encountered.
-Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
-Communicate effectively with removal contractors, citizens, and other stakeholders.
-Conduct quality control inspections at debris loading sites.
-Assist with data collection and reporting.
-Work collaboratively with team members to achieve project objectives.

💥 Requirements:
-Demonstrate strong communication skills.
-Ability to adhere to safety protocols and work instructions at all times.
-Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
-Successfully pass a motor vehicle and criminal background check.
-Hold a valid State Driver’s License.
-Provide proof of liability insurance with a valid Insurance Card.
-Possess a reliable and dependable vehicle for monitoring debris removal contractors.
-Maintain a cellular phone with charger for communication purposes.
-Available to work 12–14-hour days, 7 days a week.
-Capability to work in high-temperature and high-humidity conditions for long periods during the day.
-Proficient in driving and working in areas with disaster and harsh outdoor conditions.
-Must speak in English.
