Below are some of my remarks in the Senate last week on the so-called "millionaire's tax" in the majority supplemental budget. I encourage you to listen to why this "revenue enhancement" is not a good idea for Maine.

In this week's Republican Radio Address, Senator Sue Bernard reflects on Christ's passion and resurrection.

In a party-line vote, members of the Appropriations Committee advanced a budget that raids more than $300 million from our state’s Budget Stabilization Fund. Instead of making the tough decisions taxpayers expect and deserve, the legislative majority is choosing to raise taxes, max out the state’s debt limit and make a significant withdrawal from the state’s emergency reserves.

This morning, I had the opportunity to present a Legislative Sentiment to the Loring Job Corps Center recognizing them for being awarded the Maine VFW Smart/Maher High School Award Winner for Citizenship Education. Through its efforts, Loring has enriched the lives of many teens by helping them learn both academic and life skills.

Special thanks to the Loring Job Corps' Honor Guard for performing the Posting of the Colors to open up our Senate Session this morning.

Yesterday was a big day for Fort Kent in the State House. Several teams and athletes were recognized for their incredible achievements in the House and Senate.

The Alpine and Nordic Ski teams were both recognized with Legislative Sentiments for winning their respective Class B State Championships. Additionally, a Legislative Sentiment was passed to recognize Reed Michaud for his individual win in the giant slalom and for Alden Reardon who won the Overall State Championship in Nordic Skiing.

I also cosponsored a sentiment from Representative Lucien Daigle honoring the Fort Kent Boys Basketball Team for winning the Class C State Championship.

Congratulations, Warriors, on these incredible achievements!

It was wonderful to be able to attend the Rosary rally held by Prince of Peace Young Adult Ministry in the Hall of Flags last week. I had the opportunity to catch up with Bishop Ruggieri and deliver the closing prayer. It's encouraging to see young people engaging with their faith!
