So I got a letter.

About a month ago someone mailed me a very long, very serious letter about my “readiness for public office.”One full page, well done by the way! but No name. Signed “a concerned voter, resident, and taxpayer.”

I read the whole thing. And I laughed. Hard.

Here is the funny part. Whoever wrote this spent more time crafting an anonymous letter than it would have taken to simply call me, email me, or walk up and shake my hand. I have invited anyone in this town to reach out to me directly, anytime, about anything. My phone, my email, my front door, all open. But hiding behind “concerned voter” while throwing punches is not concern. That is cowardice. If you believe something strongly enough to write a full page about it, believe it enough to sign your name.

Here is what this letter did not do. It did not hurt me. It did not slow me down. It did not make me question a single thing. What it actually did was light a fire. Every word telling me to back off just makes me want to work harder, show up more, and prove out exactly the kind of person I am.

So I am not throwing it away. I am framing it. It is going on my wall, right where I will see it every day, as a permanent reminder that no matter what you do, how hard you try, or how much good you put into the world, there will always be one person who will never be happy. And that is okay. You cannot please everyone, and I stopped trying to a long time ago.

To my anonymous pen pal, thank you. I needed the laugh, and I needed the motivation even more. You will not break me, you will not quiet me, and I will never give in. Not now, not ever. Notice how I never brought this up during my campaign? You know why? Because you’re not the only one who was in line to discredit me and I was more focused on working for Auburn.

And to borrow your own words, I guess my candidacy really was not worth a Hill of beans.

Funny thing about beans though. Plant them, water them, give them a little time, and they grow.

By the way, I also am a tax payer!

Cheers!

Well hello Auburn.

This election was interesting to say the least, and as I close it out, I’d like to say a few last things.

First, I want to thank the Lord above for giving me the strength, wisdom, and courage to take the plunge, step up, and try to make a difference for the people who feel like they don’t have a voice.

To my wife, who stood by me and supported me through all of it, thank you. A special thanks for keeping the beast within in check when things got sketchy and on edge. She held her composure, didn’t give in, and I’m grateful for her love, guidance, and support. I’m sorry she had to deal with criticism she knew wasn’t true. I love you more and more every day.

To my children, thank you for your support and for sacrificing with me so I could do this. You gave me strength and courage, and I love you more and more every day too.

Though I wasn’t endorsed by anyone on a high caliber, I would like to thank our current select board member, Steve Chambers for allowing me to place a sign on his yard.

To Auburn, I’ve been a resident here for six years. I’ve watched my taxes climb, and whether we like it or not, tax hikes are normal and within range every year according to the studies, the statistics, and the market values. (trust me, my wife is in the industry and tells you whether you’re approved or not) That’s fine. But rational, responsible spending is what I was hoping to bring to the table. I apologize for not being able to meet your needs this time around, but this doesn’t mean it’s over.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me and my family, and thank you for letting me serve you when you needed it. I’ll keep doing that no matter what, because regardless of a position or title, the right thing to do is help one another, and that’s my promise.

Speaking of promises, I said I wouldn’t take a single cent from anyone for this campaign, and I kept that. Why should you have to pay for me when you already pay enough?

Crazy as it sounds, thank you to the incumbents, and thank you for letting me run. The election was interesting to say the least, and you taught me a valuable lesson and some good things about politics. I’m grateful for that. I always try to find the good in things, because even when it doesn’t seem good, there’s always something good inside, you just have to find it.

Auburn is special and unique, a diverse mix of wonderful people from all over. There’s work to do, because no town is perfect, and I was hoping to be part of fixing that, but you never know what the future holds.

So take care of one another. Be there for each other, help no matter the circumstances, no matter who they are. Be there for your brothers and sisters, because that’s what makes a town special. Be vigilant. When you see something that doesn’t seem right, say something. Stand up for what you believe in. Stand up for the person who can’t be that voice. Challenge your authority figures, hold them accountable, and at the same time, be there for your elected officials whether you like them or not, because they need your help just as much. Even if you don’t agree with them, help them make a difference.

Support your local police, fire, EMS, town employees, elected officials, veterans, and seniors. Support your school district, and hold them accountable too. Speak up. Don’t hide. Stand up for yourself.

You can always call me and count on me. And if I mess up, please call me out and hold me accountable, because I’m only human 🎶 just like you.

We’re not perfect, but we’re all the same inside.
Auburn, and everyone here, even though I may not get along with some of you, I love you anyway. Life is short, so make the best of it in peace and harmony.

I wish you all the best. And as the good old late Pierre Robert says, “Peace and love, Peace and love.” It’s a Philly thing and I promised that I would keep his legacy alive.

Cheers!

Well, after falling short, I just want to thank everyone who supported me and voted for me. First and foremost, thank you God for the strength and wisdom, thank you to my wife and family for your support and lastly thank you to everyone who assisted, supported and voted for me in this election.

This was not the outcome I wanted, but that’s ok, because I don’t need a title to be a decent human being. I will tell you this though, this candidacy has taught me a very valuable lesson and has opened my eyes to a lot of things that will forever change my perspective on politics and life.

To the incumbents who were re-elected, I pray and beg of you to do the right thing, to always follow your heart and listen to the people. Don’t dismiss someone because you don’t like that person, and truly give your everything to the people who live here. And lastly, be honest and don’t cover anything up. Own it and learn from it. I wish you both and all the elected the best, and please do what’s right and though you don’t govern the school district, you do have major influence and I ask you to help the school KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE!!!

Auburn, do not be afraid to stand up for what’s right! Always ask questions and always hold our elected officials accountable! Do not listen to rumors, and never give up. NEVER!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support and love that you showed me. I am sorry that I did not make it, but I will leave you with this, whether a Selectman or not, you can always count on me to fight for you and to help you anytime, no matter what…. That I have proven and will always continue to do, My phone is always on.

Thank you so much, I truly do love you all!
