📢 Come Monday, June 15th big changes for Mayport Road will begin.

🚧 Big changes are coming to Mayport Road! 🚧

Starting June 15, 2026, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the City of Atlantic Beach are launching a $9.6 million Multi-Modal Improvement Project to make Mayport Road safer, more walkable, and bike-friendly.

Here is what you need to know:

🛣️ Lane Optimization: Mayport Road will transition from 6 lanes to 4 lanes between Atlantic Blvd and Dutton Island Rd. Studies show this naturally slows down speeding without creating major bottlenecks!

🚴 New Infrastructure: Look forward to a protected shared-use path, widened sidewalks, and a dedicated southbound bike lane.

🚗 Traffic Impact: To keep things moving, no lane closures are allowed during peak hours (6 AM to 8 PM). Most work will happen at night (Sunday–Thursday).

The project is expected to wrap up by Fall 2027, ultimately creating a safer corridor that connects our local neighborhoods and businesses.
