Post 1 At-Large Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond issues the following statement on the passing of U.S. Rep. David Scott of Georgia’s 13th Congressional District:
“The passing of U.S. Rep. Congressman David Scott is a profound loss for Atlanta and for the nation. He was a statesman in every sense of the word. He was grounded in principle, committed to service, and unwavering in his advocacy for the people he represented.”
“Congressman Scott’s distinguished career began in the Georgia General Assembly in 1974 and spanned decades of impactful leadership. He was a tireless champion for veterans, a steadfast protector of Social Security, and a powerful voice for working families across Georgia and the country.”
“For me and my family, this loss is deeply personal. We had a front-row seat to his early public service when he shared an office with my father during his time in the Georgia State Senate.
