On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Snellville Youth Council spent the day focused on leadership, service, and celebration!

We began the morning with our monthly meeting as student leaders met with their committees to finalize plans for the 3rd Annual Juneteenth: Unity Day Celebration. Later that evening, the council gathered at Parkside at The Grove for our End-of-Year Banquet Dinner.

A special thank you to Freddie D Broome from the Georgia Municipal Association for pouring encouragement into our students, and to Norman Carter Jr. and his wife for celebrating with us.

During the banquet, students were recognized for their commitment to civic engagement and leadership throughout the year. Seniors were also presented with Certificates of Appreciation and Snellville medallions for their dedication to the council.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students and look forward to cheering our seniors on as they walk across the stage!

His leadership, commitment, and impact on the organization have been nothing short of remarkable. Daye’s contributions will leave a lasting legacy of excellence within the Snellville Youth Council.

On February 12, 2026, the Snellville Youth Council was recognized at the Georgia State Capitol during a morning order in the House chambers.

Our students exchanged a day off for a day under the gold dome to learn about legislative processes, meet the representatives, and network with interns who share similar interests!

During this trip, SYC was honored to receive a formal resolution recognizing our commitment to civic engagement and community service. The plaque will be located at the City of Snellville, GA - City Hall for viewing soon!

If you would like to see the digital resolution and/or the footage of the morning order given by State Representatives Segun Adeyina and Ali Akbar, please click the links below!

Tomorrow, February 12, SYC will have the opportunity to visit the State Capitol and see the legislative process up close. We will meet with lawmakers, ask questions, and learn how ideas turn into policies that impact our communities every day.

We can’t wait to spend our entire day under the gold dome!
