These camps are perfect for boys and girls who love horses but also want to experience everything else the farm has to offer.

For over 30 years, we've been helping children disconnect from screens and reconnect with animals, nature, and hands-on learning.

🐴🌿 A Morning at Camp (as told by the animals…) 🌿🐐

The horses noticed it first.
“Campers are coming,” one of them said, flicking an ear toward the driveway.

The goats had already figured it out, of course.
“They always come this time of year,” one said, standing on something it definitely wasn’t supposed to be standing on.
“I call dibs on being brushed first.”

The chickens didn’t say much. They just scattered dramatically, as if something very important was happening.

The barn cats stretched, blinked slowly, and settled in like they had planned this all along.
And then the kids arrive.
Some come ready to ride.
Some come ready to meet every animal on the farm.
And some aren’t quite sure yet… but leave knowing a lot more than when they arrived.
By mid-morning:
• Someone is proudly holding a lead rope for the first time
• Someone is brushing a horse like they’ve done it forever
• Someone is laughing at a goat doing something ridiculous
• And someone is realizing they’re braver than they thought

There’s dirt on shoes.
Hay in places it shouldn’t be.
And stories already forming before lunchtime.
By 12:30, the animals are ready for a break…
…and the kids usually are too 😊
Then it all starts again the next day.
Horse camp.
Farm adventure camp.
Or a little bit of both.
The animals will be ready.
(Especially the goats.)

Tomorrow begins our 30th year of summer camp at WildeWood Farm, and honestly… I’m just as excited now as I was that very first summer. 💛

From the teacher’s side of camp, the first morning is always my favorite.

Cars pull in carrying children who are equal parts excited and nervous. Some bounce out ready for adventure. Others cling quietly to their parents while trying to decide if the horses are giant and magical… or giant and terrifying. Then someone squeals when they see the animals, and suddenly the whole week begins.

Parents arrive carrying coffee cups, schedules, and the weight of busy lives, trying to decide whether to linger awhile or drop and go. Either option is perfectly fine around here — though if you stay too long, there’s always a chance you may get recruited to help hold ponies or refill water buckets. 😄

One of the things I love most is watching children experience real animals up close for perhaps the very first time. So many kids today know animals mostly through movies, television, or screens. But camp is different. Here they smell the horses, feel fuzzy noses, hear nickers, brush the horses, feed animals, laugh at goats, and discover that living creatures all have personalities, emotions, and stories of their own.

And somewhere during the week, fear turns into confidence. Nervousness turns into pride. Strangers become friends.

Thirty years later, that transformation still feels like magic to me.

And the best part? There is still room in all of our camps! Last-minute campers are always welcome to join the adventure. 🐴💛

🐴✨ Little Riders – Pony Adventures at WildeWood (Ages 2–4) ✨🐴
We’re excited to offer something special for our youngest horse lovers.

At WildeWood Farm, we’re often asked about lessons for toddlers. The truth is — at ages 2–4, children aren’t quite ready for traditional riding lessons…

But they are ready for something just as important.
💛 A gentle, confidence-building introduction to horses
🌟 Little Riders – Pony Adventures at WildeWood is a 4-week “parent & me” experience designed to help young children feel comfortable, calm, and confident around horses — all in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Each week includes a fun theme to spark imagination while learning real horsemanship:
🤠 Cowboy / Cowgirl Week
👑 Prince / Princess Week
🦸 Superhero Week
🌟 “From Oops to Awesome” Celebration Week

Each 1-hour class includes:
🐎 meeting and interacting with a gentle horse
🧽 simple grooming and hands-on learning
👣 safe leading and participation
🐴 short, quiet pony rides (based on readiness)

This is not a riding lesson program.
It is a highly guided, hands-on introduction to horses, requiring close instruction and parent involvement to create a safe and positive experience for each child.

💛 Parent participation is required
📅 4-week session (once per week)
Thursdays May 14-June 4 at 10:30 AM

⏰ 1 hour per class
👶 Ages 2–4
💲 Cost: $290 for the 4-week session

Spots will be very limited to 6 pairs to keep the experience calm, safe, and personal.

At WildeWood Farm, camp is designed to be just that.

Each day runs 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM, giving kids a full, active morning while avoiding the heat of the afternoon. And if your child comes home tired… that’s a good sign 😊 It means they’ve been moving, learning, and fully engaged.

Everyone loves the idea of a farm—the animals, the fresh air, the peaceful setting. But behind that beauty is a tremendous amount of work that most people never see.

Farms run every single day. There are no days off from feeding, watering, cleaning, maintaining fences, caring for animals, fixing equipment, managing land, and keeping everything safe and functional. On top of that, there are very real costs—feed, hay, vet bills, farrier care, property maintenance, taxes, and insurance. It adds up quickly.

The good news? You don’t have to own a farm to support one. There are simple, meaningful ways you can help:

🌿 Share, share, share
Every time you see a post about lessons, camps, birthday parties, or events—share it. That one click helps farms reach new families more than you realize.

🌿 Post in local and mom groups
Farm owners often aren’t allowed to promote in these groups unless they pay to advertise. But you can. Your recommendation carries weight and helps connect others to the farm.

When you’re visiting, snap a few pictures and share them. Tag the farm so others can see the experience through your eyes.
