📢 UPDATED proclamation from the Governor on Georgia's upcoming special session‼️

We went from considering 2 things during special session ➡️ to 5 things.

What's added?
✅️A provision for the Senate to confirm appointments
✅️ A provision to consider SB 33, the property tax elimination bill and
✅️ A provision to ratify the Governors suspension of the gas tax

What I wish was on the agenda INSTEAD:
💙Expanding Medicaid and Healthcare for almost 500,000 Georgians
💙 Instituting reasonable gun safety laws to protect 11 million Georgians or...
💙Updating our 1985 QBE formula for education funds

But nope 🤦🏾‍♀️ We just doing power grabs because Republicans are losing.

Keep your eyes 👀 and ears 👂 open yall! It's going to be a WILD ride starting June 17th. ‼️

This past Saturday, I had the privilege of making an introduction to my colleague in the House in a run off for House District 94 Rep. Venola Mason at Berean Church in Gwinnett.

It was a great listening tour of concerns in her district and Gwinnett.

But you know what ALWAYS seems to be a theme?

Quality of life including and especially AFFORDABILITY. 💰🤑💸

I will continue to advocate for making your daily life better District 95 and demand your elected officials do the same.

This is a customer service job FIRST...passing legislation SECOND. We are accountable to you and take care of you FIRST. That's always been my commitment and will continue to be. 🙌🏾

❓️ What is your no. 1 affordability issue right now? Gas, housing, education, healthcare?

Serious question....❗️(In the context of run offs...)

Do you support people of color....just because.....🤔

Or do you require they be qualified?

I ask because I support people who support me. I'm loyal like that. I don't care if you are white...male...atheist.....etc.

So I am hearing a lot of chatter in the Georgia run offs and supporting a woman of color...just because. 😳 And some folks expect me to do the same.

I get racism.
I get history.
I get all that.

But uummm...we want good governance right? Because you get EXACTLY what and who you vote for. 😕

16 years ago....27 years old....I got elected on my first run to the Georgia House of Representatives. Then it was District 94 and I habe had District 93 and now District 95. I have been here for a minute 🤣

I was asked SEVERAL times to run for this seat by SEVERAL people and said NO every time for 2 days.

I was 3 years out of law school.
I was one of the youngest people running for office.
I was starting my law firm AND...
I was starting my M.B.A. program at Kennesaw State University.

But 30 minutes before qualifying ended, I said YES 🙏🏾❗️ AND THE REST IS HERSTORY.

Thank you to so many who have put their trust in my as I head into my 9th term serving.

This has been circulating and....

I get the sentiment and gist of what she is saying...I really do.

But sometimes I wish we would just have these "family" discussions in private. 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️

But now that it's out there....what are your thoughts Georgia?

So I am CLEAR: I will do EVERYTHING in my power to elect Keisha Lance Bottoms as the next Governor of Georgia. Full. Stop.
