Lakeside Middle

Lakeside Middle OFFICIAL page for Lakeside MS, located in Cumming, GA. Lakeside Middle School opened in 2009 with Ms. Debbie Sarver as the school’s first principal.

Approximately 730 students from Otwell, Riverwatch and South Forsyth middle schools joined to form this new school. Because of its close proximity to Lake Lanier, the school was named Lakeside. Lake Lanier is a reservoir that is named for poet Sidney Lanier. It was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the 1950s and is used for hydroelectricity, flood control, drinking water and recreational purposes.

Today was the day that we announced Lakeside's 26-27 Teacher of the Year! We are incredibly fortunate to have a building filled with teachers and staff members who pour so much into our students and into one another every single day. Three outstanding teachers were selected as this year's finalists: Mrs. Jennifer Chunn, Mrs. Blair Morris, and Mrs. Jeni Pestorius.

We are excited to announce that Mrs. Jeni Pestorius is Lakeside's 26-27 Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Jeni Pestorius is a true ray of sunshine whose positivity and energy are contagious. A natural relationship builder, she makes both students and colleagues feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her passion for social studies inspires curiosity in her students, but it is her genuine passion for people that makes her impact so special. We are so proud that Mrs. Pestorius is a Lakeside Lion!

Today we celebrated our nominees and finalists for Staff Member of the Year. Lakeside is so lucky to have an amazing staff who are all willing to help our students, colleagues, and community. A huge shoutout to our nominees: Deb Finch, Christy Jenkins, Jodie Hall, Sheryl Menichino, Natalie Moran, and Suzanne Redmond.

We are excited to announce Mrs. Tammy Correa as our 26-27 Staff Member of the Year! She was nominated for the incredible care, dedication, and belief in all students. Mrs. Correa celebrates student growth, advocates for their needs, and makes sure they know they are loved, supported, and capable of success!
