Firefighter Cancer Support Network, Georgia

Firefighter Cancer Support Network, Georgia Within days, we deploy an FCSN signature toolbox free of charge. Most importantly, the toolbox will remind you every day that you are not alone.

The mission of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network is to assist firefighters and EMS providers and their immediate families diagnosed with cancer by providing badge to badge support, training and guidance. We provide critical assistance for career or volunteer, active or retired firefighters, emergency medical service providers, and their immediate family members who have been diagnosed with ca

ncer. We deliver valuable post-diagnosis resources followed by unique badge to badge, one-on-one mentorship from one of our 220 fire-service mentors who have first-hand knowledge about battling cancer. They share their survivorโ€™s journey about their particular types of cancer, their own experiences with testing and treatments, and offer valuable insight into the recovery process. Our toolbox contains valuable resources, including our comprehensive Firefighterโ€™s Guide to Cancer Survivorship, to help you stay organized, informed, and effectively communicate with your doctors, loved ones, and brothers and sisters in the fire service. Our dedicated team will be by you and your familyโ€™s side from diagnosis, through treatment to recovery. Disclaimer: The Firefighter Cancer Support Network is a volunteer group of cancer survivors, whose objective is to provide timely support to Fire Department employees (and immediate family members) diagnosed with any form of cancer, or who are dealing with ongoing cancer issues. We do not provide legal or medical advice. Our mission is to provide comfort, strength and hope through our own personal experiences. We will also provide other support options such as the Department Chaplains, Behavioral Health Services and other cancer support programs. Weโ€™ll also highlight our Behind the Badge โ€“ Survivor Stories, giving a voice to firefighters and families impacted by cancer.

Together, we can reduce the possibility of a cancer diagnosis and protect those who protect our communities.

Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month begins January 1, and weโ€™re proud to stand together in partnership with the International Association of Fire Fighters. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿš’

Throughout January, weโ€™re focused on education, prevention, and survivorshipโ€”providing firefighters and their families with the tools, resources, and support needed to reduce risk, promote early detection, and ensure no one faces cancer alone. Be sure to check our webpages frequently for updated resources, best practices, and shareable content, and plan a department safety stand-down to reinforce life-saving cancer prevention measures.
