🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY – ROADWAY CLOSED 🚨

Please avoid the area of Blue Springs Road and Old 41 Highway due to cables down across the roadway.

⚠️ The roadway is currently closed, and traffic is being diverted using Blue Springs Station.

Acworth Police officers are on scene directing traffic and assisting with the closure. Please expect delays in the area and use an alternate route if possible.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while crews work to address the issue.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

It has been brought to the attention of the Acworth Police Department that an individual identifying himself as Lt. Williams has been contacting members of the community, claiming to be an Acworth Police Officer and demanding payment for a fine related to a missed court date.

⚠️ **THIS IS A SCAM.**

The Acworth Police Department does not have a Lieutenant Williams employed with the City of Acworth, and our officers will not call you and demand payment over the phone for a missed court date or threaten you with arrest if you do not immediately pay.

**DO NOT SEND MONEY.** Do not provide gift cards, banking information, credit/debit card numbers, or other financial information to anyone making these demands.

Scammers may use law enforcement terminology, spoof phone numbers, or provide convincing information in an attempt to make the call appear legitimate.

If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to represent the Acworth Police Department, hang up and contact the Acworth Police Department directly at 770-974-1232 to verify the information.

Please help us protect others by sharing this warning with your family, friends, and neighbors.

Last night, Officer Whiddon was recognized by Acworth Masonic Lodge #176 for his life-saving actions during a moment when every second counted.
While on vacation with his family, Officer Whiddon noticed a juvenile choking in line at an amusement park. Without hesitation, he stepped in to render aid, successfully dislodging the object and saving the child’s life.
His quick thinking, decisive action, and willingness to step up in a moment of crisis reminds us all of the heart and selflessness behind the badge.
Please join us in congratulating Officer Whiddon on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud to have him serving our community.

Congratulation to Officer Alva and Officer Hanfland who graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Basic Law Enforcement Academy today! Over the last 16 weeks they have completed over 800 hours of training. Next week they will begin field training where Officers Alva and Hanfland will continue to apply their skills, dedication and commitment to service in our community. We are proud to recognize their hard work and dedication to helping protect and serve our Acworth community.
