To those wishing to invest in our community, “You are welcome here!”

Thank you for seeing needs and being involved to help us improve!

Thank you for bringing convenience, employment, amenities, and other opportunities that have been sought for so long.

Many thanks to our City Staff for working diligently to fulfill their commitment to our residents and to our future.

Thank you to our Police Department for the “blue bubble” that covers our homes, families, and visitors.

Sincere thanks for keeping the grass cut, the water clean and flowing, the electric service coming to our lights and modern conveniences, the streets in good repair, disposing of our sewerage, taking care of our parks and the aesthetics downtown, giving up your personal time to facilitate our events and celebrations, maintaining the public buildings and properties that belong to us all, and for those that are on call and come in at a moments notice during emergency situations, thank you.

The grants, Federal, State, and other sources like the DOT, are greatly appreciated. May they be used as intended and according to guidelines.

To those large investors who have poured millions of dollars into our local economy and tax base: thank you for choosing Hampton as the place to locate your business and industry. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.

The small business owners including those having home based services are appreciated, too. You are the backbone of the entrepreneurial spirt.

We are not perfect, but we are working towards a better life. Working together, we can accomplish what seemed unthinkable.

And to those I may have not mentioned, those that go mostly unnoticed, and most of all to our residents and citizenry, each of us is Hampton. Each of us represent. Let us give the most positive impression to others so that Hampton and her people will always be a pleasant thought and memory.

FYI:

Please be advised that beginning May 18th through May 29th, Lower Woolsey Road will be reduced to one lane between Speedway Blvd. and Selfridge Road, to enable the installation of a 12” waterline. Work will be performed weekdays only.

Marty’s notes for the May 12, 2026, Regular Meeting of the Hampton City Council:

The agenda was amended to remove Item 10.A regarding gas stations; 8.C. was amended; and Public Comments was moved to 4.C, earlier in the meeting.

All Items passed 6-0 with the exception of 8.A. which passed 4-2 and was referred to the Administration & Finance Committee; Item 10.E., which passed 5-1; Item 8.B was denied 6-0; Item 8.C. was postponed.

Public Comments consisted of 2 speakers, one recognizing the great relationship between the City and Hampton Elementary and a new program being developed at the Hampton Historic Preservation Commission; the other individual spoke of the City Manager hiring process.

Agenda for the May 12, 2026, Regular Meeting of the Hampton City Council:

Someone asked for pictures of the work being done across the street from the new Fire Station #5.
Infrastructure including sewerage lines, a pump station, and related groundwork is being installed. Developers and investors are funding the improvements to City and State specifications.
This is part of the Henderson Farms development approved by Henry County 10 years ago and annexed into the City of Hampton around five years ago.

Having been asked, “Why do we need data centers?”, “What does a data center do?”, and “Why are there so many?” I thought sharing this might help.

Remember, this is just YouTube.

Many other data systems need storage “in the cloud” like banks, governments, doctors and hospitals, Amazon and other companies like them, Google and others, credit card companies, vendors that use online services, and the list goes on.

Receipts, records, even the “Charlie bit my finger” video are still there…in storage.
