Matt Elementary opened in 2001 with approximately 600 students. It was named after the original Matt Elementary, which was located on Bannister Road. The “Old Matt” school was named after the Matt community, which was named after Matison Martin. The original Matt school held 75 students in multiple grades. Rather than desks, students sat on slab benches around an open fireplace. Their drinking wat

Happy National Administrative Professionals Day!
Today we proudly celebrate and thank Mrs. Kendrix, Mrs. Rowland, and Mrs. Johnson—our three amazing front office professionals who truly keep our school running smoothly, both at the front desk and behind the scenes.
From welcoming families with a smile to managing attendance, logistics, bookkeeping, data management, student clubs, after-school programs, and events, these ladies do it all. They are often the first faces you see and the steady hands making sure every detail is handled—from setup to takedown and everything in between.
Our school community wouldn’t function without their dedication, organization, and heart for students and families. We are so grateful for all they do each and every day.
Thank you, Mrs. Kendrix, Mrs. Rowland, and Mrs. Johnson!

Teacher Appreciation Week is officially underway—and it’s a Barbie‑approved kickoff!
Day one was all about celebrating our teachers in style with a delicious Chick‑fil‑A breakfast, Barbie spirit wear, and dreamhouse‑level decorated doors. As Barbie says, “You can be anything,” and our teachers prove that every single day. A huge thank‑you to our amazing PTO for going all out to make teacher dreams come true. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings—Hi, Teacher Appreciation Week!
