I hope everybody had a great weekend.
This morning I received information of a SCAM that occurred this weekend, the caller advised he was the Chief of Police and there was a warrant for the would be victim's arrest for missing court last week and now he needed to post an online bond of $20,000, the caller gave him a website to go to and a call back number. Luckily, the gentlemen did not go to the website and gave no personal information over the phone.
The Buchanan Police Department will never call or text you and ask for money, fine money or bond money.
If this happens to you hang up the phone, and call your local law enforcement.

On February 24, 2025 we received a call from Martin County Sheriffs Office in Stuart, Fl. they advised that they had several felony warrants on a subject that lived within our jurisdiction the individual was identified as Randolph Lamar Mouchet, the warrants were for 1) Sale of Methamphetamine 2) Manufacturing Methamphetamine.
After gathering intelligence through several sources it was determined that Mouchet no longer in our jurisdiction but still frequented the area. Yesterday, February 27, 2025 at approx. 2:30pm I received a creditable tip from a concerned citizen who advised that Mouchet was back in his old neighborhood driving a late modeled Black Dodge truck, we got behind the vehicle as he was attempting to leave the city, he was stopped and taken into custody without incident. Mr. Mouchet was transported to the Haralson County Jail, he is currently awaiting extradition back to Martin County Fl.
Thank you to the citizen that called with the information and thanks to my officers for getting this guy behind bars where he belongs.

On February 26, 2025 at approx. 10:30pm night shift received call of an unknown disturbance at the Waffle House located at Hwy 27 and Hwy 120, when they arrived they noticed a 2008 Jeep Liberty leaving the scene with its lights off, Sgt. Creel and Ofc. Renfroe finally got the vehicle stopped at the northern end on the city, when both approached the vehicle they noticed a strong smell of ma*****na coming from the inside of the vehicle. The driver was identified as James Amos of Forsyth, Ga. he was driving on a suspended Georgia license and also had a warrant out of another jurisdiction and placed under arrest. The front seat passenger was identified as Robin Cook of Dallas, Ga. a search incident to the arrest produced a quantity Methamphetamine and Ma*****na which were found in the center console, also Robin Cook was found to have a zip lock bag of Ma*****na in her purse and several white pills in her front pocket which were identified as a Schedule ll drug.
Mr. Amos was charged with several traffic charges, outstanding warrant through another jurisdiction, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Ma*****na and Possession of Drug Related Object (pipes).
Ms. Cook was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Ma*****na, Possession of a Schedule ll Drug and Possession of Drug Related Objects (pipes), both were transported to Haralson County Jail.

Way to go "night shift".

On February 9, 2025 at 10:00pm Buchanan Police Officers Sgt. Creel, Ofc. F. Silvers and Ofc. Renfroe received information that a subject that had probation violation warrants on him was hiding out at 6 East Head Ave. when they arrived they indeed found the suspect they were looking for hiding behind a dresser, he was identified as Adam Cokley of a Buchanan address, they also ran several others at this location for warrants it was determined that 2 other suspects had active warrants as well as a quantity of Methamphetamine was found.
4 individuals are now in the Haralson County Jail and charged with the following:

1) Adam Cokley - Violation of Probation Warrant
2) Steven Boyd - Violation of Probation Warrant
3) Sheanna Olivia Skinner - Possession of Methamphetamine and Violation of Probation Warrant
4) Gary Penson - Possession of Methamphetamines' and Possession of Drug Related Objects.
Deputies of the Haralson County Sheriff's assisted in the arrest's.

On January 28, 2025 at approx. 4:30 a victim of a road rage incident came to the Buchanan Police Dept. to make a report, through our investigation it was determined that victim was driving north of Hwy 27 at Buchanan Bypass when a Hispanic male driving late modeled Toyota SUV in a aggressive manner was following victim, suspect produced a handgun and fired 3 shots at the victim and his vehicle he was driving, suspect followed victim to the front parking lot of the police dept. where suspect again produced the handgun and pointed at the victim which was caught on surveillance camera's.
Within the hour we had the suspect in custody, he was identified as Hosman Ruiz Gallon of a Bremen address (originally from Columbia) he was charged with Aggravated Assault and placed in the Haralson County Jail on a 15K bond. After reviewing our reports it was determined that a similar case was filed back in November 2024. The victims were contacted in this case and the suspect Gallon was picked out of a photo lineup, Gallon was once again arrested for Aggravated Assault and Aggressive Driving and placed in the Haralson County Jail this time no bond.

Just a reminder that The City of Buchanan will be having our annual "Bell Tower Bash" tonight starting at 6:00 and ending after midnight there will be live entertainment, vendors and culminating with a great fireworks show. If your traveling through our city please slow down there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic. If you partake in alcoholic spirits please have a designated driver, Uber or call a friend.

As we say good-bye to 2024 I would like to take a minute and thank a few folks. My fellow law enforcement sisters and brothers for their daily sacrifices they make, our Haralson County FD you guys and gals are amazing, EMS services for giving care to the ill and injured and our 911 dispatchers for always telling us where to go and taking care of us all.

We have lost co-workers, family and friends during this past year and although we miss them we can take solace in the fact that we are better for having them in our lives.

The Buchanan Police Department would like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy New Year.
