Mayor Andre Dickens issued the following statement on the passing of James L. Virgil.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.
The City of Atlanta is deeply saddened by the loss of Atlanta businessman, James L. Virgil, affectionately known as Mr. V, an icon in Atlanta’s entertainment and nightlife community. In the 1970s & 1980s, Mr. V owned the legendary nightclub Mr. V’s Figure 8 And in recent years became a staple in the hospitality business by providing local businesses with resources and supplies through his business Mr. V’s Restaurant Equipment & Store Fixtures located in Downtown Atlanta.”

Today was a powerful day of opportunity in the City of Atlanta! 🙌🏾

The Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services and the Atlanta Department of Labor and Employment Services partnered to bring citizens and employers together, creating meaningful opportunities for job seekers throughout our community.

Today’s Career & Resource Fair was truly exceptional, with more than 100 employers on-site and over 500 attendees looking for their next opportunity.

This is what happens when government, employers, and our community come together with a shared commitment to creating pathways to employment and economic opportunity.

Thank you to every employer, community partner, staff member, and job seeker who helped make today a success!
