YOU ARE INVITED !!!!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I warmly invite you to join me Monday at Noon, at Atlanta City Hall as we honor an outstanding community leader whose work continues to positively impact young people across our city, indeed across America.

Join us for a special reception and proclamation presentation honoring Dean Lawrence Edward Carter Sr., the distinguished Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College, as he concludes a remarkable and historic career of leadership, scholarship, ministry, and service.

For decades, Dean Carter has inspired generations of students, faith leaders, educators, and public servants through his unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, peace, nonviolence, and human dignity. His leadership at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel has helped preserve and advance Dr. King’s legacy while elevating Morehouse College as a global center for moral and ethical leadership.

The proclamation is sponsored by: Councilmembers Matt Westmoreland, Michael Julian Bond, Wayne Martin, and Jason Dozier.

Happy Memorial Day! Never forget the sacrifices of those who gave ALL for Our Freedoms!!!

Hello Atlanta!
Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy as Americans were secured through the extraordinary sacrifice of brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives in service to our nation.
As we gather with family, friends, and community today, let us also pause to remember those heroes who never made it home — the sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, neighbors, and loved ones whose courage and commitment helped preserve our democracy and way of life.
Here in Atlanta, we honor not only their sacrifice, but also the military families who continue to carry memories of them with strength, pride, and grace.
On this Memorial Day, may we reflect with gratitude, live with purpose, and remain committed to building a nation worthy of the sacrifices made on our behalf.
May God bless the legacy of our fallen service members, and may God continue to bless Atlanta and the country as a whole.
Yours in service, always,
Michael Julian Bond
