I would like to formally congratulate Will Babbit. You have done exceedingly well. Like your service to our country, you have executed your candidacy with dignity and respect.

I was told it was naive to believe a nonpartisan election was possible in our political climate. 😊 While I will not fully concede the point, I have learned a lot. I am so deeply indebted to the insight and encouragement I continue to receive and the diligent hearts of those who invested. Their hard work and wisdom afforded the opportunity for a person without experience in this arena to give voice and value to the hard work being done by our students, families, and the staff of our beloved Olathe Public Schools. Olathe, Kansas, whether inside or out, the City of Olathe, KS, is full of people filled with excellence and virtue. I believe this heartbeat will prevail, come what may.

To my Sweet Lil’ Red and my Phenomenal Family, while this is not the outcome for which we wanted or worked, we hold tightly to our Hope. Right? Our time together last night, I would never trade. I am so proud of you and your thoughtful approach! Your hearts, are so much… MORE! My own is buoyed by what we have - together.

Rise or Fall, we do so with dignity and devotion.

My, how I DO love you SO!

Grants available for school supplies: A statewide program could help thousands of Kansas children with $1,000 grants to pay for back-to-school supplies and other education expenses, but not enough families know about the program yet.

The $1,000 grants for school supplies and other expenses are first-come, first-served — and a quarter of the funds have already been awarded.

Congratulations to State Senator Molly Baumgardner (R-Louisburg), upon her appoint to the Early Childhood Transition Task Force by Governor Laura Kelly. The task force is charged with reviewing Kansas’ early childhood care and education system and developing a roadmap for creating a cabinet-level agency. Early investment in our children makes great sense and prepares our children for K-12 learning!

Today, Gov. Laura Kelly announced two additional appointments and two reappointments to the following state boards and commissions:

State Board of Cosmetology — Ben Foster, executive director. The board regulates the profession of cosmetology and its educational institutions.

Citizen’s Utility Ratepayers Board — Reappointments of Danya Burks, Wichita, and Mary Treaster, Pretty Prairie. The board provides legal and technical representation for residential and small commercial utility ratepayers.

KANSASWORKS State Board — Brian Threadgold, Topeka. The board provides information on matters pertaining to employment and training programs, services and facilities.
