We are sad to announce the passing of Mrs. Bobbye Nunnally after a brief illness. She was a longtime member of The Historical Society and worked tirelessly for many years in the Courthouse Museum. She will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with her family.

Few more pics for those who have not seen. When the new roof was being put on several years ago, I (Janet) took advantage to climb these very narrow, steep stairs. The 2nd pic is of the copula. These timbers are huge showing the axe marks - just think - no electric saws!

Many of you have seen these pics, but for those who haven't, thought you'd like to see what the Courtroom looks like (po...

The photos I'm sharing below this post were some I had, some given to me by residents (which are no longer with us). I passed most down to Mike Carroll (who we miss so much) and when Museum opened, he gave them to Pat McGill. Still looking for more to post (published by Janet Jones) WELL...I don't know what happened so let me try to post pics again. First, a group on the east side taken in 1910. 2nd Green Seal Shoes on the square, 3rd Mrs. Casey's Boarding House right off the square.

Just a little history and a few more pics. The Historic Preservation Commission was formed in 2015. Shortly after, and with the help of Joyce Brock, our FB page was conceived in July of 2015. Shortly after, I began as Admin. for the page and continue to share any news to you faithful followers. A few years ago, Ms. Bobbye Nunnally agreed to help me on behalf of the Historical Society. On June 7, 2017 the Museum began in our Historic Courthouse by volunteers and Pat McGill.

Here are a few more pics of businesses that were located on the square. You can scroll down to previous post to see addition pictures that you may have not seen. Enjoy! The first is a group of residents on the East side of the courthouse taken in 1910. Second, a business, Green Seal Shoes and the 3rd Mrs. Casey's Boarding House.

Thought I'd reshare some pics that some of our new followers haven't seen. First pic is of our Courthouse in 1940, prior to renovations, Tipler's Cheap Cash Store that was on the square, Chapman & Gray Drug Store, Cottrell Hotel (yes we had a hotel). I will try and post more since I have so many. Hope you enjoy....Janet Jones
