Every year the state of Ohio issues a state wide burn ban for the months of March, April, May, October, and November. During these months between the hours of 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. no outside open burning is permitted anywhere in the state.

Outside of these months certain regulations still apply to open burning depending on your location either in the city or township.

Everyday presents a new challenge! Crews were contacted about a broken stained glass window at a local church due to today's wind. The glass presented a safety hazard to those on the street below, as well as being an iconic piece of the over 90 year old church. Crews were contacted by the church staff for initial assistance, then began working with Simonson Construction Services, Inc. to secure the window preventing further damage, and eliminating all safety hazards. While this is definitely an unusual call we are always happy to work with our local partners and support our community!

Today our crews participated in an Air Monitoring and Metering class from Bad Day Training. This training is not only a refresher for our HAZMAT Team, but also for our crews on an everyday basis. Any time we respond to a possible gas leak, or carbon monoxide alarm we utilize the skills from this type of training.

We were able to secure the funding for this training through a grant secured by our members.
