Earlier this summer, Arts For Life in Charlotte hosted their second annual ART FEST for patients and families throughout Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital! 🏥

Along with the beautiful art show in the lobby, there were creative stations hosted by INCREDIBLE volunteers, staff and community partners — puppets, aprons to paint and so much more! 🖌️

Thanks to AFL Program Coordinator, Andrea, for sharing her experience with us: “Art Fest celebrates the creativity and resilience of our patients, highlighting the many ways art brings expression, joy and connection during hospital stays.” 💞

Setayesh, age 10, her two sisters and two friends visited the event and spent the entire time creating everything they possibly could! The next day, they all immediately put on their newly painted Art Fest aprons to work on a collaborative tissue paper collage together! 💙💚❤️

Want to explore Arts For Life ANYWHERE you go? 🎨🌎🎵

In 2020, after almost two decades of bringing the arts to pediatric patients and their families in-person at our partner hospitals, we created Arts For Life Anywhere as a way to connect with patients and families remotely 💙💚❤️

Through Arts For Life Anywhere, we can meet patients and families exactly where they are, just when they need us 💞

With this site filled with project ideas and inspiration and self-guided Artivity Kits ® provided to our hospital partners, pediatric patients and families can engage in the arts at home, in the car, in their hospital room — just about anywhere they feel like creating 🎨

What a fun story to feature today from Ferni, our AFL Program Director in Asheville! 🎉

"We had such a great time at Mission Health Mission Children's Hospital’s Junior Volunteer Enrichment Sessions! 🎨💙

It was a privilege to share what Arts For Life does to support pediatric patients and families through creativity, and to connect with an inspiring group of teens exploring careers in healthcare 🏥

Thank you, Mission Hospital, for inviting us to be part of this meaningful program—we loved every minute of it!” ✨

Sharing a new Spotlight Series here on our social media: highlighting our interns and volunteers who collaborate with our pediatric patients and families here at Arts For Life! 💡

We’re introducing Sophie today, and her story is about exploring different art forms:

“My favorite time volunteering was with a 17 year old patient who I did watercolors with. When I checked the records before my shift, I saw she had said no the last few times someone asked her to do art, so I was a little nervous to ask her again. However, she ended up saying yes! She was a very talented nail artist and showed me a lot of the work she had been doing lately and some of her plans for new pieces 💅

I ended up working with her for a little over an hour, and I was so happy to meet such a talented young artist who is so excited about continuing her work.”

Thank you so much for your support for Arts For Life, Sophie! We truly appreciate you! 💙💚❤️

Please give a warm Arts For Life welcome to our newest staff member, Troy! 💙💚❤️

Troy joined us earlier this summer as the new Winston-Salem Program Coordinator, and we’re thrilled to have him on the team working with our pediatric patients and families.

Originally from South Florida, he has dedicated his career to empowering children and caregivers through arts and entertainment. He worked at Niklaus Children's Hospital in Miami as a supervisor and performer for Healthy Humor Inc., a clown arts company focused on creating moments of joy, laughter, and comfort for kids and their families in hospital settings. Troy was also the coordinator and resident “Camp Clown” for The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp, a medically specialized camp in Connecticut for children started by Paul Newman. There, he not only provided ambient antics and skits but also taught kids circus arts and coordinated campwide talent shows.

We can’t wait to see all he does to inspire courage through creativity at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital 🏥
