Last month, we were happy to partner with East Fork Pottery to host a plated dinner for the 85+ residents at Compass Point Village. Thanks to their generous donation, our staff and volunteers were able to serve a full restaurant-style meal using handcrafted East Fork plates, bowls, and serving platters.

With seats at the table for individuals from all different backgrounds, the thoughtfully made pottery on the table was a meaningful touch that elevated the entire experience of this community meal.

East Fork Pottery, we're proud to call you partners in the fight to prevent and end homelessness in our community. Thank you for your support.

Our Welcome Home Donation Center had a lovely day with our friends from Asheville Youth Mission this week! A group of awesome volunteers from First United Church of Oak Park, Chicago, came all the way to Asheville with donations to help with a move-in from homelessness. This is a great show of support for the community we serve!

Thanks Asheville Youth Mission!

You can help fund a move-in from homelessness!

Homeward Bound's Welcome Home Donation Center needs household supplies to create move-in boxes for folks who are exiting homelessness.

How to help!
Purchase and drop off the items listed in the post, or select Welcome Home Donation Center when you donate through our website. A donation of $250 or will cover a complete box, which includes hygiene items, kitchen items, and other household goods.

Why do we provide move-in boxes? Most people who are homeless have few or no belongings or furnishings, so when we move individuals and families into their homes, we provide a house full of clean, gently- used furniture and household items donated by our community.

"Last year, Homeward Bound of WNC served more people than ever before. Across our programs, the need for housing and homeless services continues to grow in our community.

Over the past year, we have focused deliberately on our Strong & Stable vision and strategy, strengthening our foundations and sharpening our delivery so that the housing and services we provide remain dependable for the long term

Throughout these pages, you will see the numbers and read the stories behind them. Each represents a life changed through the work of Homeward Bound.

But Homeward Bound is not just our staff or the people we serve. It is all of you -our supporters, partners, and volunteers, and community. Together, we can achieve more than any one organization alone. Together, we can solve situations that once seemed impossible. Together, we can end homelessness.

The future may bring challenges, but we are ready for the work ahead. Thank you for standing with us."

Meet our Housing Placement Team, along with a few of the landlords and property management groups we work with to house clients in homes across Buncombe County.

Through this partnership, we're able to ensure the people we serve in our Housing programs are able to find their footing in a community with neighbors who accept them, in a home that is suitable for their needs and family.

In 2025, we partnered with 89 landlords and provided 88 leases throughout Buncombe County. This helped us end homelessness for 102 people, including 50 veterans. Thank you for being a part of our mission.

We also want to give another shout-out to Sovereign Remedies in Downtown Asheville for hosting our landlord appreciation gathering. We had a lovely time connecting with the people who make our work possible. ✨🌸

Homeward Bound of WNC is so grateful to receive a grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina's Women for Women Giving Circle to support our work to prevent and end homelessness in our community through permanent housing and support. We were honored to accept this grant alongside so many other amazing nonprofits working to improve the lives of our neighbors across WNC.

This month, we're grateful to share the story of Brooke and Kelso, a couple who have lived at Homeward Bound's Compass Point Village for over seven months. Brooke and Kelso met while they were both homeless in Asheville. Each carries a history of addiction, violence, abandonment, and mental health challenges.

The couple is focused on settling into their new home and embracing the space they now have to rest and recover. They access medical and behavioral healthcare through Appalachian Mountain Health, our on-site medical partner. Their case manager, Erin, is helping connect Brooke to disability benefits. More than anything, both of them want to get back into the workforce. Brooke is especially driven to earn her own income, so she can pay rent.

Both of them value the opportunity to heal from their experiences. For Kelso, Brooke’s safety and well-being matter most.

“It’s a relief,” he says. “It’s nice knowing that no matter what, she has housing more than anything.”
