Negotiations are hard, and the Sheridan Educators Association fought especially hard, including striking, to keep kids first in all District priorities and the budget. I’m sorry workers have to fight this hard for what’s right, and thankful for the union who organized for this win!

The Sheridan Board of Education voted in favor of ratifying the agreement with the Sheridan Educators Association to meet union demands and end the strike.

Every time I hear Phil Weiser talk about his “why” for running for Governor, I feel inspired. He is doing this for our kids, our families, our neighbors, our environment.

Yesterday, a huge crowd came to learn more and support his race. What did we learn? He is authentic in every way, willing to listen to each person who shares their story. He’s a fighter and will stand up to the Trump administration, and not vote for his corrupt appointees or do his bidding. He will keep money in our schools, is ready to address childcare, and tackle the housing shortage.

And his approach? Going to where the people are, asking those experiencing and working on issues to help solve them, and empowering community voice. Community-informed governing is exactly what I’m looking for in our next State leader.

This next week is critical, it can decide this election. Ballots drop in one week, people start mailing back their choices. Come canvass with us, to talk to our neighbors, and win every vote. Great turn out for the Phil Weiser North Jeffco Canvass! People are fired up and ready to elect a Governor who is honest, authentic, and a fighter. Highlighted at the event was his commitment to public education, immigrant rights, public health, and how much he shows up in community. Primary is June 30!

Proud to be in great company with other legislators who are committed to fighting to build a strong public education system, support educators and ESPs, and protect funding for schools. We do this work for the students at the center, and with the goal that every child has access to a fully funded, equitable education.

Went home to the CU Denver School of Public Affairs today to talk Network Science to PA grad students, and share what we’re up to at Visible Network Labs. Happy to be invited to guest lecture in classes with these public and nonprofit leaders!

Networks are prolific and as interesting now as ever. Today’s socio-political shifts have both dismantled networks, and we’ve also see the rise of grassroots networks in a way like never before. For a network scientist like me…it’s a very interesting time. A a candidate with this view, I will bring this lens to the policy work from a systems lens.

Thanks for those that joined the The Jefferson County Democratic Party Second Saturday gathering this morning. Candidates appreciate the opportunity to come together with our neighbors across the County. I had to join in between trailering our gelding from the barn to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds - without ever leaving House District 27! This is an amazing place to live and I’m happy to be the next CO State House Rep!

Last night, I joined fellow advocates working to protect the right to choose and reproductive rights at the annual Cobalt gala. Many years ago I took a class in college from Sarah Weddington, the attorney who won Roe v Wade, who explained the case and the winning argument to a right to privacy and autonomy over our bodies. She shifted my understanding and ignited in me a fire to fight for the dignity of all humans to exercise their right to choose their own health outcomes. I was privileged to stay connected to her until her passing, and miss her smart mind and fighting spirit.

Thanks to her and all the other warriors who continue to stand up for human rights. We need leaders today who will carry the work forward, especially in times like these!
