Yesterday we had the privilege to host Maj. Gen. Douglas A. Sims II, commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley in Kansas. Throughout the visit, Sims received a mission update brief, had an office call with Col. Paul Dahlen, our commander, and spend some time with some of his troops from the 7th Squadron 17th Cavalry Regiment currently stationed at Forward Operating Site Powidz.

Today, we honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives in service to this great nation. As we enjoy our freedoms, let us never forget the cost of that liberty. To my fallen brothers and sisters: You are not forgotten. Your legacy lives on in our hearts and actions. 🇺🇸 .

Soldiers participated in this year's Victory Run, and "in short, it's going to be an amazing week. I look forward to joining you in celebrating our history and recognizing the fortune we share with those who formerly wore the Big Red One and those who wear it today. What a great day to be a Soldier, and that much more to be a member of the Big Red One.

From the battlefield to the home front, the mission continues. The experiences, the bonds, and the lessons learned in service to our nation will forever be a part of me. As I transition into the next chapter, I carry the strength, discipline, and resilience that the military has instilled in me.
